I have tried WD, Seagate, Quantum, Maxtor. Never had a faulty drive before. I guess 90% of the time it depends on how u handle your disk to ensure they work nicely tongue.gif

When I got my Maxtor, the salesperson emphasised only one rule when buying HDDs:

Made In Singapore only. smile.gif I'm starting to think that he may be right. biggrin.gif

I second that. The last time I checked, Hitachi is the official storage provider for Alienware systems, so that alone speaks of it's edge over other manufacturers. I'd get a Hitachi HDD on 1st sight, no kidding. smile.gif

Hear ye! Hear ye! This just in (though I'm not surprised at all considering Maxtor current financial situation) ohmy.gif Once upon a time, Maxtor gobbled up Quantum, and now Seagate takes over Maxtor. I wonder if the SeaCare centers will now cater for Maxtor RMAs as well.. brows.gif

SOS!! URGENT HELP NEEDED!! sweat.gif my company's harddisk just died ... IDE cant detect it at all and after plug it into a external harddisk casing (IDE to USB), it still wont work or the PC didnt detect it at all!! sad.gif

All this started when i backup my WD content into the Samsung so i can format the WD ... the backup content was about 20GB which i copied it into the Samsung's D drive, after formating the WD, the nxt thing was to transfer all the Samsung backup content back to WD .... with the Samsung acting as the master and WD as the slave.

Halfway during the transfer, the PC(Samsung = master) hang .... after waiting for so long and still no respond, i reset it and the nxt thing i know is that the Samsung wont boot up anymore nor the BIOS can detect it at all.

Is there anyway i can still retreive back the Samsung content even if it means sending back to the factory as its still under warranty i think? The content innit is so very important i belive it will cost me my job cry.gif HELP!!
