mmm....
i prefer a 1 larger hdd for storing all the files into one!!
unless you plan to installed windows into the 40G,
then the 160G use as files storage.

if for me, i prefer to have a large capacity hdd to store my file.

if you are not plannign to sell your current hdd, then the option to yuo is no1.

my another WD 80G hdd is going to die!!!

problem is when i copy the file from
C to D (partitioned, D was part of C)
the blue screen appear...

it is not safe to continue using anymore,
i shall backup and replace a new one.

if i am not mistaken, the hdd only approximately 2 years old.

I have use Western Digital on my 1st assemble PC, Maxtor on my second and also Maxtor on my third...but the third Maxtor showing bad sector already so i guess it wont last long...thinking of changing to Western Digital Caviar series or Seagate...haven't make up my mind yet....really fancy the Raptor but feel it is too expensive for a hard disk...read some really good review about Samsung drive too but my friend work inside don't recommend...hmm...might end up with Seagate since i havent use them before...hahaha...performance wise...i don't really feel any different...i think it is your CPU and RAM which contribute more to the performance sector....hard disk is only for storage biggrin.gif

i will ALWAYS choose Seagate unless i want a WD raptor.
the most reliable hard disks ever. according to surveys, maxtor is reported to have the highest failure rates. (and yes, my one and only maxtor owned died once and was RMA'ed.) 2nd is followed by WD. and lastly the lowest failure rate is Seagate. cant remember about the others. all the Seagates i've owned in the past 8 years that i can remember, none have failed. i'd rather have a hard disk that lasts longer than to save 50 bucks and have it die on me too soon and bring my data along to its death bed.

I heard that torrents will damage your HDD easily because of the continuous read and write at the same time? how true is this?

Oh really? On what basis are your statements made? Do you work in an environment where hard disks are handled in large quantities?

BTW, if you buy hard disks from Samsung, take note that there's no RMA procedures. I'm learning this the hard way, after two SP0411Ns of mine failed.
