wanna put lots of treasure there..so if d hdsk went wrong,cost me to get back all thing u know...

Well, I can safely say that Samsungs generally are the quietest in terms of idel and seek noise and coolest in terms of operating temperature. Good for HTPC use. Performance is also very close to the fastest WD or Seagate drives, if not faster !

Currently have 3 x 750GB Samsung F1 (32MB cache) in RAID 0.

but now samsung hdd is not very durable.

Any experience to back this up?

Any worse than Seagate or WD?

alright...so now jus wanna consider these 2 brand,put seagate aside.i'm interested wif either samsung or w.d. jchue73,u said samsung quite good,but super macgyver insist it not durable.in term of warranty..i think w.d give 3 yrs n samsung 5 right...?

Only Seagate offers 5 year warranty on all their drives. Samsung offers 3 years warranty but I think their RAID / enterprise line drives carry 5 years. However, I've never seen them here yet.

WD offers 3 years warranty for their normal drives and 5 years for their RE / enterprise drives.

Added on April 10, 2008, 4:00 amWell, just because of a few problems are highlighted leads to the conclusion that Samsung drives are junk? Going by that train of thought, then all drives regardless if it's Seagate, WD etc... are junk. No hardisk is perfect.

Hardisk drives are like a box of chocolates... you never know what you're gonna get.

I seen ads from computer shop that state Samsung Notebook hard disk is 5 years, hmm, any one can confirm? nothing much I can find online, thanks

samsung can easilly get spoilt after 1yr usage for recent tis 2yr report from owners.

really...?i just wanna consider for normal use only.just for storage.no need special series...yesterday see 1TB samsung at pc fair.still hesitate which one to choose..1tb,if data loss,might give me really headache..

Don't know about you guys, but my 80GB SeaGate serve me well, I have been using it for 3 years liao.

And just want to remind everyone out there, harddisk cooling are just IMPORTANT as CPU cooling, so please ensure you have a fan blowing your harddisk to cool it down.

Currently I'm on Seagate's 7200.11 500GB 32MB SATAII HDD. I did swapped for an exchange unit within the first two weeks of usage due to some problem which I couldn't format the HDD anymore. Neither with Windows nor Format Utility with Windows BootDisk also failed . My currently unit work fine and some of the faulty problem may due to my SATA cable. I swapped with another cable thou and it runs pretty fine now.

Frankly speaking, Samsung's HDDs do make me feel quite promising with it. Lower power consumption thus lower operating heat and noise. Some said performance wise only average, but that wouldn't be visible till we see the numbers on benchies I suppose. My 120GB Samsung Spinpoint SATA HDD still serve me very well till today
