yea, the shop (AllIT) keep recommending me samsung hdd... they say samsung is the oni company to use liquid bearing (lastest today) or sumthing like tat? it's quiet, fast and more reliable!

but it'a a lil too pricey for me... hehe... rm30 more than hitachi's...
one more thing, samsung is made in KOREA! hitachi made in thailand nia... doh.gif

My Seagate 200GB PATA only at 40C during the hot weather, it have a hard disk cooler and there are 2 80mm faulty psu fan blowing thru the hard disk. The 2 80mm fan is as intake fan. My WD 120GB PATA only at 38C during hot weather.

On normal day, both hard disk temp is around 31C-35C. During raining day, the temp mostly around 30C-34C.

Of course above temp will be vary from time to time depending on the weather, air circulation in my PC, air circulation in my room and other factor which will affect the temp. biggrin.gif

If I can get other powerful fan as intake, I think the temp will be even lower... drool.gif

Personally I like WD and has them with 2x80Gb Pata, 3x80Gb Sata2 and 1x250Gb Sata2. Both temp at 32-40C with Smart Enable. rclxm9.gif Samsung and Hitachi is good also as it has same performance like WD but hate Maxtor (produces more heat even at outside case) and Seagate (had experienced with it and has worst performance). no offence dude.. blush.gif

I had four Seagate PATA HDDs failed on me prematurely, the fifth one was from my XBOX console. I had better luck with WD PATA & SATA HDDs, they lasted around 3-4 years. Up to my expectations to be honest. smile.gif

I'm not curious to try out Hitachi's SATA HDDs, everywhere is selling them now, it must be good I guess.

Yes, WD is more indeed more reliable but for speed benchmarks, WD losses out to Maxtor but a little, however, that's not an issue since I want a long lasting HDD, not one that kongs after a year or two. doh.gif

No offence but whenever I asked for a Samsung hardisk, the shops will tell me not to buy it because Samsung is not famous for making a hardisk, this and that. I wonder why they said that, profit margins not that good?
