Erm no offence to Hitachi but their drives are more ment for the OEM market, nothing really spectacular about their hdd's as OEM market is more about volume and not really about anything thing else. As for WD, well i think they do try harder as can be seen with their raptor range of hdd's, expense but nice all the same. If you do get the WD 250GB, make sure you grab the one with 16mb buffer instead of the 8mb ones..there seems to be those of variants floating around...happy buying thumbup.gif

oh, is it, it's too late i think when i'm checking this thread today....i've already bought Hitachi Desktar SATAII 320GB, seems ok to me except the hard disk don't look really nice on appearance though... laugh.gif

but i've read the HDD performance chart at tom's hardware and some Hitachi HDD are better than WD on different test charts...but I'm still using my old WD 80GB SATA pair with the new HDD... thumbup.gif

all manufacturers are offering 3 years except seagate with 5 years. thats the only seagate"s advantage on the rest.
i might consider hitachi because hitachi's been doing well on my laptop, quiet. what do you guys think?

i'd read a good review on Hitachi hard disk for it's built quality and durability, but I think it depends on certain model. I still prefer WD, used 3 of it previously, never fail me before. Still using one in my current rig.. nod.gif
