on my external hard disk only when i wanna use it

or

on it for 10 - 15 hours ( as long as i switch on my laptop )

In my opinion, WD HDs are the best. I've been using WD since.....since....EVER! Never once did it fail me. The only time is did fail was that one time the PC dropped 3 feet onto the ground, it was on too..sweat.gif Luckily it was a test PC, P3 system. But other than that, I can say I've used around 5-7 WD HDs, never failed me. LONG LIVE WESTERN DIGITAL!

My harddisks:

EDITED:

1. Hitachi SATA 160 GB is about 43° C degree

2. WD PATA 40 GB is about 48° C degree

I checked on noon (12.00 pm) while my computer run from 7.00 am till noon.

using maxtor.. so far no prob.. 160gb..

maxtor have a lot of problems? why is that?

My seagate after cooling is 42C max

currently using 80gb wd sata on my intel rig, this 1 is damn quiet.

using 80gb seagate sata on amd rig, when start up got a bit noise.

plan 2 get a 160gb hitachi / wd soon.

no...
i didn't use any cooling fans....
that's why i got this temperature with open 24/7 straight!!

thinking to get some, to try out whether will it cool down the hdd or not...

also, i am using the lousy, 5 years old back casing...
ventilation is not so effective!! doh.gif

better change a new one with better ventilation! thumbup.gif
