In my work experience I got most maxtor hard disk failed (with maxtor powermax diagnostic software) so I think maxtor is not very good. Do you guys agree with this?

You have to limit SATA 2 hard disk to SATA 1 on the jumper. See the instuction on the disk or manual

Oh... alright, thanks... biggrin.gif

Hmm, as for hard disk brand, I'm currently using Maxtor 80G, but its very noise. Lots of clicking noise when using. Also hear alot of bad experience about maxtor

so thts why i'm considering either Seagate or WD sweat.gif

Ure in luck. I just installed a 150Gb Raptor in my system n ran sum benchmarks to try out the difference. Here's the results using HD Tach.

WD Caviar 80Gb

Burst Speed- 94.0 MB/s
Average Speed- 50.7 MB/s

WD Raptor 150Gb

Burst Speed- 135.1 MB/s
Average Speed- 77.8 MB/s

That's quite a significant increase in speeds I reckon. I was really worried bout the noise a Raptor makes. I've read so many ppl complaining bout the Raptor being really loud. Well, those claims r unfounded IMHO. It's actually quite ok when compared to my 80Gb Caviar. It's almost as silent as the Caviar when spinning. Just that when it starts skipping then u'll hear the krek krek for a fraction of a second. Other than that, noise is not an issue with the Raptor.

I'm in the process of Ghosting my 80Gb into the Raptor 150 now so I haven't tried games loading which is my main reason for buying the Raptor. As soon as the Ghosting is done, I'm gonna try Battlefield 2, the mother of all extremely slooooooooooow loading games.

The running temperature is also really good. Speedfan shows that the Raptor 150 is actually cooler than the Caviar. I'm Ghosting right now so both HDDs r under load, the Caviar is 56C n the Raptor is only 47C. That's really weird. I thought the Raptor wud be a lot hotter.

Overall, I'd say it's worth every penny. Faster, cooler n not noisy as sum wud portray it to be. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

It was once my primary boot drive and I am running my pc 24/7 since years ago. 80GB is getting smaller for me, that's why it became my backup drive smile.gif

Hitachi runs rather fast for me, not to mention it has solid build-quality bruce.gif But for daily usage I can't really tell the speed difference between all of my HDDs, to be precise Hitachi versus WD tongue.gif

I had good and bad Maxtors. The one that came in my Dell is very reliable, cool, quiet and fast, a rare Maxtor brows.gif
