but hitachi dun have too much different over WD i think, as victorboy still testing it now for us.

can a SATA II cable be plugged into a SATA I hard disk? ;and
can a SATA I cable be plugged into a SATA II hard disk?

does it affects the performance?

hey guys, i want to get an internal HDD and an external HDD enclosure, im planning to get the WD 160GB Sata II HDD, but regarding the external casing,I'm not sure wat brand to get, any recommendations? and is it better to get an external HDD or do it like the way I'm trying to do it now? (get internal HDD and use external casing)

1 more question, my mobo is MSI 865PE Neo2, i see that it has 2 sata connectors on the mobo, and I already have 2 sata HDD connected 2 it, so if i plan to add another sata HDD, how do i go abt doing it? and can a SATA 2 HDD work on my mobo?

i tink "TVUPLAYER" jst killed my HDD

couple of days ago.. my hdd (C:) was running fine.. n i was streaming TYUPLAYER, watchin AXN.. den i kinda stop n close the program.. n i had a MAJOR LAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG before my pc hang..

n next restart my HDD is dead.. weird ehh??

i dare not use it now any ideas??

or mebbe its time the grim reaper came for my hdd eh?

i plan to get a 160-250gb hardisk...so, any recommend that which brand should i take? just want a silent and low temp hardisk..any recommend?

Then WD temp are almost same with seagate also. My seagate with 80mm fan is 39C. Your WD is 38C. Seagate temp are always higer than WD 2-3C.. i think seagate HDD is designed to run in higher temp....

dont know why my 40gb WD hardisk got sound..the sound is the sound when the airplane is begin to fly..those "fan" sound..

So, seagate huh !! hear the sound(db) is the lowest among all..and is high temp among the all as well..right?(correct me if wrong). and if the hardisk is high temp in whole week, izzit the life of the hardisk will decrease?

usually i tink ppl will have a fan or so, blowing at the HDD so it doesnt over heat..

as long it has cooling.. it will prolong the hdd life

izzit usually for those people who never shut down the pc put a fan for the hardisk? and what hardisk fan is highly recommended..i just down want my pc make more dust as more fan in my pcu..futhermore, more fan increase noise...I just hate NOISE !!

u can choose those fan which arent so noisy..

i m immune to the noise.. i got 1 tornado for my CPU n 4 tt smartcase fan II for my casing cooling which is cooling the hdd as well..

my hdd is nvr hot

u can get low noise evergreen fan 8cm, as it just 16dba.

so if my mobo support sata 1 only,
then i need to buy sata1 to sata 2 converter ?? since the port conector is not the same..
to use on my comp??

nope. using sata2 seagate on a sata 1 mobo. the extra 16mb buffer does make a big difference with 8mb buffer. transfer rate is considerably faster. no lags on my com.

for the airplane noise that you mention, its a sign that the hard disk is going to fail so backup. if it frequently sounds like that when you're using.

if you hate noise there are other alternatives. silent fans are the solution. if you can't do a direct HD cooling, you can opt for case cooling measures. moderating the internal temperature is one way of cooling the hard disk indirectly

sata1 port connector can use on sata2 hdd??
