When you swipe for petrol, the bank will reduce your CL by RM200 regardless of the amount. The real amount will only be reflected when the station operator post the transactions. All cards, all petrols.
*
This understanding is not quite correct. Some amount is only held for transactions at the pump because there is no way to tell in advance the purchase amount. The amount also differs for different banks and petrol retailers. Transactions at the counter for a specific amount is treated exactly like any other retail transaction.

^ thanks for the clarification. I was refering to the swipes at the counter. Slightly OT, but can you provide some examples on which other banks/merchants differ in amount? Could be a useful info.

The amount hold if you swipe your card at the pump is standardized at RM200 per authorization as far as i am concerned.

Can petrol station swipe out cash for us ?

I had an experience. One night, me and my friend had dinner at a cafe near to a petrol station. When I paid the bill, I gave em my MBB2 AMEX. The waitress didn't say anything when I handed over my AMEX. Soon, she came back and I signed. She gave me a customer's copy and without the receipt that I first glanced.

When i back home, the customer's merchant copy is from CALTEX (the petrol station nearby). That's why I am asking, can Petrol station helps you to swipe for cash?

If yes, we can swipe to the cap of cash back RM50 at the end of the month.

Here is what I think... I guess the store cashier is helping the restaurant. My bill was less than RM100. The cashier can change cash payment to credit card payment.

Btw, it's not legit to do so right?

maybe both companies have the same owner..

Why did you sign on a CC transaction slip not from the Restaurant? that's your mistake.
By swiping CC at petrol station, it will hold a credit of RM200

I didnt notice lar bro.
It is cafe that serves alcohol also.
I had a couple of beers... just sign only.

I only noticed it when I got home.

Added on November 20, 2011, 2:37 pmSome motorcyclist pump RM3-5.
Some car drivers pump RM20,30,50.

They pay by cash.
Mix and match that would be my bill amount.

My bill was about 87.00 in total. No cent.

Great that you share the above info, but it will be more beneficial to others if you had post it here and the TS of that thread can update in the first page.

I should ask you to quote source but then you might ask the same of me. biggrin.gif

The next time you swipe at the pump, quite a lot of pumps will display the maximum amount allowed for the transaction at the display where they used to be able to press amounts manually. If you come across such a pump, observe the amount and you will see it's usually not RM200 and will typically change if you use cards from different issuers.

I wasn't aware of this. I found out this a few years ago through debit card and the bank's CS. Back then the hold amount was just RM150. And these are the banks which i have used their debit/credit cards at the pump > Public Bank, Maybank, OCBC, Citibank, HSBC and RHB Bank. All holds RM200/authorization.

If you want to terminate your other MBB cards, ask the CS to transfer your current TP to your new MBB 2 cards account.

No waiver fot GST buy you may be able to offset the GST with your current Treats Points from your Visa, Ask CS.

If I already have an OCBC Titanium Card (which I applied using FD a year ago) with a credit limit of RM5000, will i be able to apply for this Maybank 2 card by just using my OCBC card?

My payment record for my OCBC all this while quite good which mean no delay in payment and always on time.

Any advice?

Many people have reported that MBB is very strict nowadays in regards to income documents inline with BNM guidelines. You may call the number stated on the 1st page and ask MBB card centre at 1U for more details.

What do you mean by sms alert. If you are referring to BNM requirement, all credit card issuers are to notify cardholders whenever a transactions is made with their cards effective 1st January 2012.

Click here to read my article on Fraudulent charges and SMS Notification. In this article I have many links on the SMS alert thingy and BNM Press Release statement.

It seems that we can set the limit for issuers to sent the sms.

MBB also have been sending out notice to cardholders to update their contact numbers. My wife and son (supp card holder) received the notice but not me.
