If both cards Maybankard2Gold + OCBC Ti reached the RM50 rebate capped limit, what is the next best cresdit card?
*
Exclude Petrol, for general transactions where AMEX is accepted still Maybankard 2 AMEX with 5X Treats Points where you can get returns more than 2% which is higher than most cards.

This thread Earn Pocket Money with CC may be helpful.

hi..got a question.

My Amex is charged with Rm50 Service Tax but got credited automatically in the same day.

However my MasterCard got charged with RM50 Service Tax as well but not paid automatically in the system.

Can anyone explain what is this? I thought Maybank2 cards are have life time waived fees?

Sorry I am a newly credit card holder.
*
Bro, next time read first page before asking.

The RM50 is Government Service Tax which are imposed onto all credit cards and charge card.

Maybankard 2 Cards do not have annual fee; therefore, there no need for waiver for annual fees since it is FREE FOR LIFE smile.gif

QUOTE(DSV4600 @ Dec 19 2011, 11:09 AM)
Yesterday I spent more than 1 hour on the phone with Maybank Customer Care and goreng them about their very bad service levels.
For the whole month of December 2011 they have been getting on my nerves and causing me money & time to be wasted unnecessarily.

Yesterday went to 2 Maybank branches to bank-in payment for my credit cards. Wisma Consplant, all their cash deposit machines out of order.
Then drove to SS15 branch. There, got one customer making cash deposit, and two security guards wanting to take out the money after that.
So I asked the security guards whether can I bank-in my cash before they do their job. So biadap they all, ask me to wait in a rude manner.
Then I ask how long to wait, they tell me "You tunggu lah!!!". Made me pissed off, so I ask them back, "Tunggu berapa lama?". They then tell me to wait 30 minutes. Fine, so I wait 30 minutes walking around exploring the nearby shops and call up their CS, and gave them a piece of my mine.

The CS fella even got the cheek to tell me if you're not happy with our services, cancel your cards-lah...
I've been using the MBB2Cards for 6 months only, but spent more than RM35k of transactions, and the fella can tell me this.
Fuh, make me panas, so I demand for manager. Sorry sir, we don't have managers on duty during weekends. So I tell him fine, get your manager to call me tomorrow. Press him for timeframe when one of his managers can call me, idiot reply me and say, my managers got a lot of tasks to handle, so I cannot guarantee, they will call you when they are free. Gave the fella left & right until my 30 minutes of waiting is up.

Go back to the cash deposit machines at SS15, 2/3 not working, and the 1 that's left, having problems accepting the notes. There was 3 people in front of me cursing because their cash not accepted. By the time it's my turn, I spend 10-15 minutes depositing my cash. Damn frustrating, but the line behind me, got 10 more people. Pity all of them.

Called back MBB CS after doing my cash deposit, and goreng their CS staff again left and right. This time, I was transferred to a manager level. Fuh, this made me even more panas because their earlier CS lying to me. Gave a piece of my mind to the manager. Call lasted for about 30 minutes. Made him check all my phone calls & records for this month & my complaints and made him apologize for all the issues.

1) Early Dec, was travelling to HK. Called MBB to inform that I'm going overseas before hand. Reach HK and go to hotel, cannot swipe my card for deposit. Had to make expensive IDD call and get my card working again.
2) Come back to Malaysia, was travelling to Langkawi. My card reach credit limit. Spent 2 days calling up requesting for temporary credit extension when it could have been granted in 10 minutes. Somemore I had flawless payment record.
3) Request for my cards to be upgraded to Platinum in consideration of my heavy usage & good track records. After 2 weeks, get a stupid reply asking me to re-apply for Platinum cards with no guarantee of being granted.
4) Now face problems even to make payment at CDM.

I strongly encourage all Maybank customers to call up their CS Hotline and give their staff a piece of your mind whenever you face any problems & issues with their branches / people / services. They take us for granted as customer and take us for a ride, and always look for opportunities to charge us more surcharges instead. When service levels are poor, they don't care. So exercise your right as a customer and also shoot their managers so that they do their work, since ultimately we're paying them to do their job. I hate their "Tidak Apa" attitude.
*
I just posted an article Maybank Premier Card Customer Service where I said I am more than satisfied with MBB and you on the other hand here not happy with their level of service.

Cash Deposit Machine all same lah, especially if you got like 99 notes to deposit, go try other banks' CDM and you will know what I mean.

It is common for MBB machines to be out of order especially on weekends and public holidays. So, I make sure I make payment on weekdays and always few days prior to the Due Date and save the hassle like what you mentioned.

As for you shooting the manager, aiyah, he's only allowing you to let go steam. But the fact remains that no further actions was required by the manager for your case.

And as for you complaining that you have to wasted money in HK, go get another credit card smile.gif I personally never had any issue with my MBB cards overseas and most recent in Macau where I used my MBB MC and did not inform CS I was going overseas too.

And you know what, the CS is correct, if you are not happy with their service, cancel the card. Why you still want to support them and want their plat card?

I understand, giving feedback is good so that the management got info to take appropriate actions; however, "taruking" another fellow human being when he is not at fault is another thing.

got rejected i think maybe because my salary <36k and im owning 2 credit card. so i need at least 6 months to re apply again and im desperate that this time application can success because i found out that this card is useful to me.
*
lazyserv, earlier you mentioned you own a credit card but now you mentioned 2. So, are you having 2 credit cards from different issuers? If you already got 2 cards from 2 different issuers, you apply again in 6 month also your application will be rejected (as pointed out by fruitie) unless you earn more by then.

Since you mentioned me and took the time to read my article, here are some of the options you can consider:

1. If you applied thru a Maybank Marketing Staff (not agent or branch or by email or by fax) and you got his/her contact number, call him/her and ask why your application got rejected. He/she will be able to check what was recorded in the system and you can then take the appropriate actions to make it right.

2. Go to Maybank Centre at 1U or HQ or KLCC and tell them upfront you got two cards (if you have) and ask them what you need to do to get the MBB 2 Cards. Bring your documents along.

QUOTE(fruitie @ Dec 26 2011, 01:15 AM)
I thought less than 36k annual income cannot have more than 2 banks' credit cards?
*
Very observant and you are right. I wonder if banks are to automatically reject applicants (applying for 3rd card) who falls into this category.

Do mind that the weekend 5% rebate is pooled together for principal and supplementary card holders. So it is advisable to get your own principal MBB2 instead.
*
Agree to above. And to add

1) Supp card got to pay GST for 2 cards, i.e. RM25 + RM25.

2) When want to redeem the Treats Points, I wonder if Supp card can do it or only the Principal cardholder is allowed to do so.

3) Assuming MBB extend the 0% BT, supp card cannot do Balance Transfer (CIMB can).

QUOTE(hye @ Dec 28 2011, 10:52 PM)
Goodness ...
How best to save from Amazon ?

- Always monitor prices and use price tracker. That way you'll maximise your savings if you are price sensitive and willing to wait for best prices offering from Amazon. Would not work if you are chasing after a particular item or collector's item.

(I'm trying not to be sarcastic)

- If you don't want to lose forex exchanges then work in the US, open a bank account and use cash to pay for your purchases in Amazon. Otherwise if you are working and living in Malaysia then the only way is to use a debit or credit card to pay for your purchases.
- Forget about winning all the time. If you get best prices then no way you can control when Amazon will charge your card unless you are an Amazon staff who control the credit card charging system.
- Use MBB VISA / MC as they offer the best exchange rate among all other cc providers in Malaysia. You may lose points but you pay less. You want points then use AMEX but pay more for overseas forex transactions fees. You cannot win all the time.
- All other card providers who offers % discounts are date sensitive .... again unless you can control when Amazon charges you then forget it.
- You still want points ? And get best forex rates ? Then be a PB member or if your earnings per annum qualifies with Maybank and get yourself the elite credit cards which is the VI and WMC. Pay a hefty fee for the annual fee or make sure you spend RM60K with VI or RM120K per year with WMC. You'll get the best forex rates + plenty of points (5x for overseas purchases)

I think the above should be crystal clear if anyone want the best and the best to buy from Amazon.

Erkkk ... yes. I'm in South Korea now.
Yes ... it depends on Starwood promos on their rooms and there's a promo in Seoul D Cube with Starwood till end of this year. But Starwood rooms are freaking expensive at this time of the year. The Seoul D Cube are like double the prices from regular days. Walker Hill are probably cheaper but they are very far away from Central Seoul.

Thanks but I kind of lost as got no idea about Seoul, last time was there years ago, stayed at Lotte (on company expense). Next time I go Korea, will ask you and Miles and ben83 where is the most convenient place to stay. I know OT lah, but since you took the trouble to reply and read the posts here from Korea, might as while make full use of the FREE internet access, hehe

Using a credit card here is rather mainstream .... you can even use it at 7-11 and similar convenience stores. Some taxis accept them but I'm not sure whether got any extra fees or not coz never use it. I'm surprised can even buy bus ticket with credit card. (Not to mention McDonalds, BK and the likes) Transaction approval is also quick ... take just a few seconds.
*
Same as in Singapore. Can use CC at McD and BK and no need to sign, just insert card into terminal. But for taxi got extra fee.

QUOTE(hye @ Dec 29 2011, 10:36 AM)
My goodness ... you are not convinced aren't you ? We also learn from Google and reading from a lot of sites and not just Lowyat.net. This forum is for discussion ... and not to find easy answers. We gave you the short answer but you are not happy and want more. We do this on voluntary basis and it gets annoying when people ask for too much. Understand?

Read up your own post. You ask to where to check forex ... you can easily Google daily forex rates.

We have made comparison between all the major cc providers in Malaysia. Benchmark transaction is USD -> MYR.
The transaction were made on the same date and posted on the same date - conclusion MBB is the lowest. Very marginal difference between MC / VISA thus ignorable between 2 card. Other cards are definitely higher.

Points are not everything coz it is not cheap to do redemption. Check it out yourself. Thus there's a preference for good forex rates rather than points. No such thing as you can win all ... you need to compromise a little - if you are still young perhaps this statement may not be very understandable to you.

Your benchmark should be the MBB's forex rates and that's the rate charged when your card is charged. Bank are not going to cheat you by overcharging you or you'll hear us ranting about it long time back. MBB does not do that and neither any of the other banks in Malaysia - if not BNM will be all over them. If you want to buy something overseas then be prepared to pay for the forex rates whatever it may be if it is still cheaper than buying it in Malaysia - it is as simple as that.

There are people who bought stuff from Amazon when their forex was 3.8 and USD->MY now hovering between 3.2-3.3. Rates are relative and people still buy whatever they want to buy at that particular point of time if they think it is worthwhile. Example

Forex 3.2 means you pay RM320 for a USD100 item.
Forex 3.3 means you pay RM330 for a USD100 item.

Difference is only RM10 which is not a lot of money in Klang Valley these days. Banks are not going to charge you 3.4 or 3.5 if the forex rate is 3.2.

My honest advise if you are so scared and sensitive to buying online then buy something ultra cheap from EBay just for an experiment. Use both MC/VISA and AMEX to make your purchase. You'll learn faster and understand the rates better rather than asking a million questions here which you require proof in order to be convinced. Doing this you'll get the proof you need and understand what we are talking about.

QUOTE(afosz @ Dec 30 2011, 12:25 PM)
I have a question regarding statement date and due date. I give one example below.

Statement date : 8 Dec 2011
Due date : 28 Dec 2011

On 3 Dec 2011, I swiped RM 100. On the 10th, I swiped RM 50. Then I paid RM 150 to clear it up on the 13th. Then on the 20th, I swiped RM 200.

So my statement balance shows RM 100 since its cut off date is 8 Dec, but I have made the payment on the 13th. But, it still shows in the statement balance RM 100 'pay now' due to my outstanding on RM 200 on 20th. Do I need to clear that up, or it will be cleared once new statement is out ?
*
The RM100 swiped on 3rd Dec will be due for settlement on 28th December 2011. This should be reflected in your Paper Statement.

The RM50 swiped on 10th Dec and the RM200 swiped on 20th December are after the Statement Date of 8th December and therefore not due for payment on 28th December but on 28th January 2012.

question:

credit card interest charge when together with epp
assume retail outstanding = rm2000, epp outstanding = 2400 (12 months)
hence : the total minimum payment = 5% * (2000) + 2400/12 = RM300
am i right??

if paying minimum only, does the epp outstanding getting charges interest?? (because i know the outstanding for retail will charges since the posted day)
just wonder.. smile.gif
i asked here
*
Above is not how the 5% works. Minimum payment should be 5% x RM2300 = RM115 and whatever balance will be imposed interest every single day including whatever amount posted to your account thereafter.

Just pay amount stated as Outstanding Balance and you won't get charge interest. If you just pay 5% minimum, better not have a credit card because you are living beyond your means (and that includes going with 0% EPP or whatever installment plans).

When I asked, they said internet transactions don't qualify for weekend 5% rebate. To qualify the card must be swiped.

this has been discussed many times before and I have mentioned in Post#2 that many reported that they don't earn the 5% cash back with their online transactions as it depends on the timing the merchant processes the transactions.

Actually hye did start a thread just for the purpose to identify which online merchant does earn us the 5% cash back click here to read more. fruitie is one of the few people who have taken the trouble to share with us that she did get 5% cash back for Pay Pal and flickr. Important thing to note also, for overseas transaction, you have to take into account the different timezone. Hopefully all members who transact with their MBB 2 AMEX on weekend can update in this said thread to benefit others.

I guess if you frequently do online transaction with a particular merchant, it may be worthwhile trying out a transaction with them on a Saturday or Sunday to find out if you do earn 5% cash back (you have to take note of the time difference too).
