-Hmm, that CIMB Bank Debit MasterCard must be really new because before this when I inquired (many times) they just have Prepaid MasterCard (which cannot be linked to account, needs to top-up & cannot be used as ATM card). nod.gif

-I already have Maybank VISA Debit and Bank Islam VISA Debit Card-i, so I'm looking for MasterCard-based debit card now. Maybe I'll apply tomorrow as I already have an account with CIMB, while the conversion from Bankkard is still free (for now). rclxms.gif

-Speaking of fees, it seems CIMB Debit MasterCard charges RM8 annually, while Maybank VISA Debit is free and Bank Islam charges RM10. Other charges/fees seem different too. sweat.gif

-As a note, I can link my Islamic saving account (likely Islamic current accounts too) to these VISA Debit cards, at least in Maybank and (of course) Bank Islam case. So, I'm hoping CIMB also will accept linking my Islamic saving account to their new MasterCard Debit card (will know soon when applying).

-Regarding Islamic banking and debit cards, other banks may differ, as Affin Bank specifically creates "AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard" (www.affinbank.com.my/ccards/debitislamic.html) in addition to their normal MasterCard Debit one. The same applies to RHB Bank too, as they also have "My Cash-i Debit MasterCard" (www.rhb.com.my/islamic_banking/cards/db_cashconnect_i_main.html) and "My Cash-i VISA Debit" (www.rhb.com.my/islamic_banking/cards/db_cashconnect_i_visa_main.html), beside their normal MasterCard and VISA debit cards. And maybe even EONBank, too. doh.gif

-For more comprehensive list on MasterCard Debit issuers, you may refer here: http://www.mastercard.com/sea/personal/en/...uest_debit.html smile.gif

Regards.

Very new indeed. It was introduced in late November last year.

Do note that the annual fee free Maybank VISA debit card comes with certain restrictions such as limited free cash withdrawals. For those heavy ATM users, Maybank also offers them an unlimited ATM cash withdrawals over any Maybank ATM for a minimal fee of just RM8 like most other banks.

It is now possible for CIMB Bank/CIMB Islamic too. It's been so since sometimes in year 2010. However, do note that it is not possible to link your other CIMB Bank/CIMB Islamic account if one of your accounts is a basic savings account.

CIMB Bank Islamic also offers a CIMB Bank Islamic branded debit MasterCard for its CIMB Islamic savings/current account holders.

The HLB Hello Kitty card is an ATM/debit card, not a credit card. And yes, it comes with a RM8 annual fee. For its benefits and rewards program, please look for debit card in their website.

-Just got my CIMB MasterCard Debit card today; and yes - as you said - the card has label "CIMB Islamic". nod.gif Unfortunately, it cannot be linked to PayPal, or even be used for any Internet-based transaction (just read their FAQ here: http://www.cimbclicks.com.my/faq_debitcard.htm#18). cry.gif

Yup, sad to say debit cards issued by CIMB are pretty much worthless. As their online trasactions implementation haven't even been implemented.

Also anyone can straightly clarify whatever Maybank are still actively doing their MSOS thing? Also why is MSOS associated with Verified by Visa/3-D Secure?

MSOS is Maybank's version of Verified by VISA/MasterCard SecureCode. It's the same thing but just different name. And instead of you having to key in a PIN you have set up earlier, Maybank will now send you an SMS containing the PIN. The PIN is different every time and may only be used once.

Thanks for clarification.

Can't believe the staffs at Maybank didn't bother explaining this when I told them I will be using the card for online transactions.

It depend on which branch of Maybank you are going. The staff are not even well-trained regarding their own product. I once enquiry their staff regarding the Maybankard Cherry Debit Mastercard. The answer I get from Maybank staff is Maybank do not have the Debit Mastercard and only have credit card mastercard. Also accused me that I see wrongly the information. doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

I would like to apply a savings account in RHB and RHB My Cash-i Debit MasterCard.

My questions:
1. Can i ask for my name to be printed on the card?
2. How long does the process?
3. How the printed card looks like? Does it printed like PB Esso Card? (The print quality)

1. Yes (do insist on it as some of their staffs aren't aware of this option)
2. Not sure
3. It's printed, not embossed. Yes, it's similar to PBB's debit card.

Go to Public Bank and open a PLUS Savings Account. You will be issued a Day2Day VISA debit card right away and this card is accepted for all online transaction.
