Does anyone know if I can import configuration from my Mikrotik RB751G-2HnD to RB951G-2HnD directly? I am thinking of changing mine to the latest model.
*
U can try use import & export command. There is also compact export(will only save configs that is different than default) command but im not sure if it is still applicable
Still need to change the mac address on the exported script though

From wiki :
CODE
Note: Starting from v6rc1 "export compact" is default behavior. To do old style export use export verbose

Anyone know how to export the wireless snoop station records into file? I'm not able to do it at API. I'm not able to print out Wireless Snoop result at terminals but how am I going to export this data into txt/cvs file? While I need to input this command to get the result "interface wireless snooper snoop interface=wlan1", after this I need to press "S" to get the station result. It there any where to export the data like doing a script? I did try on API but it doesn't work.

Hi, new RB2011UiAS user here. Lately I've been having issue where the designated wan eth port will randomly go down by itself. I have already change its port from 1 to 2 but it still keep going down. Any idea?

While our initial suspect is the BTU unit, the TM guy already dropped by yesterday, but they didnt found any issue at all.

Just a sidenote, were the disconnection have something to do with this error? The MAC address belongs to an iPhone 5c.

Hi I am interested on learning RouterOS, as i have the very basic knowledge in networking, is there anyway i can have the online training and is there anyone can share your experience about how good is RouterOS?

May i know how routerOS benefit on below setup?

Network cable are using CAT5E 100Mbps.
1 x 24 ports DES 1024R
1 x 24 ports DES 1024A
1 x Linksys LRT224 (router firewall)
1 x Dlink ADSL 2750E ADSL Modem
1 x Innacomm 3400v ADSL Modem
1 x Dlink NAS 323

besides on that, there are a lot of small 5ports or 8 ports normal switches connected to some other location for ports extension purpose.

My target plan want to improve the current network speed and prepare for future ERP system.

Even with experience running Cisco OS (many years ago) and got good knowledge in Networking.... I found it difficult setting up the RouterOS when I received by first unit. The syntax is all different, not to mention that everything is "manual" setup, including NAT, which is like auto on most "home routers"

Nowadays, they have some standard pre-set mode, which makes it easier. But I would reckon you would need to have good knowledge in Networks first, before attempting to use RouterOS.

If you are running ERP over LAN network, I doubt the RouterOS can help much, since its all LAN (unless you want to do QOS/queue). However if you want to setup Firewall, VPN or other services, I believe RouterOS can help you. But setup is not gonna be easy....

Be patient, and google for sample scripts, and work your way....

Cisco give the "en" mode full control, it basically can control every thing, I still love cisco. Mikrotik are similar just the lingo are difference. I too find it hard to catch the lingo, but google and its GUI help tremendously.

I am using Maxis Broadband and Mikrotik router. However, I am unable to use the phone. How can I possibly set the Mikrotik router to route SIP traffic to the original Maxis Thomson router so I can connect the phone to it? I cannot setup on the BTU because mine is the Alcatel unit (not Huawei).

Can someone help me please?

This should be basic setup, nothing much can be tweak, ERP like eric_tan mention nothing much to do with router, unless you segment it to difference VLAN, and use the router to do the router which is not a good way. Usually is to get a switch with L3 swithing and do it on the switch side. If not, you will be loading the router for unnecessary routing and crash the router.

Most import is to make sure the network is running in Class-C or lower, if you use anything bigger than Class-C segment, it will cause network speed congestion due to broadcast.

question:

just bought RB915G 2HnD

1. this router have 4 Gi , 1 Wlan and 1 Guest wlan preconfigured, I've assgined different VLAN for each int(ip -> interfaces),
2. can I use built-in DHCP server in mikrotik to assign different network segment for each VLAN tag??

for example, i want Gi2 to have 192.168.2.0/24, Wlan 192.168.50.0/24, Guest WLAN 192.168.254.0/254

i got it ystrday night, it seems that 'bridge' have higher priority than vlans. when i seperate wlan bridges, point dhcp srvr to those bridge...and it works!

by default..everything was on default local bridge.

btw, how to extract out the config in plain text?

anyone can share a link on how to set up SSH connection within the RouterOS? I am using RB2011UiAS with maxis 3g modem. And i want to mask my connection with SSH. Right now I am connecting my SSH using software GUI on my client, but in order to do that I need to set up the GUI on every clients and I dont want that. What I want is that the SSH connection will trigger in the router itself thus all the client connect to it can surf anonymously within the SSH. Can someone enlighten me with this problem? Much appreciate.

Don't think routeros support this. You need a vpn.

anyone has experience setting up a hotspot with mikrotik??
Trying to set it up using trial users with data limit..got a script for it but the bytes in and bytes out aren't updated. it's like it only accounts for local traffic and not external.

any ideas?
