Has anyone tried 6.0rc5? I"m getting much better wifi performance with it on an RB751G-2HnD than 5.21 on an RB751U-2HnD. Previously I could not stream movies from Plex Media Server to my iPhone. Now it's OK. Router is downstairs, front of the house to room upstairs at the back of the house. about 50ft.

You mean with internal antenna or external antenna?

Hi all,

I intend to buy this http://routerboard.com/RB751G-2HnD to use it on my Huawei E372, E398 or MF680. I dun have Fibre in my area yet.

Do you guys think i can get good speed on it as a lower cost TP LINK MR3420 too can do the job of getting good speed but lacks the "freedom" even on OpenWRT FW.

Those who have used this before. i need your valuable feedback.

Thanks

I need your expert advice since your views is so easily understandable.

I intend to use the RB751G-2HnD ( intends to buy ) for 3G USB dial-in then LAN out to a DDWRT flashed Router ( DLink 615 )

My questions

1) Will the dial in be hassel free ( easy setup ) and can i get highspeed ( i tried using a TP Link TD-W8968 to dial in but the speed sucks( Max=1.5Mbps ) ) I am currently using TP Link MR3420 V2 to dial in and its fast can touch 10Mbps at times.

2) When my area is UniFi enabled, can i Load Balance UniFi and Maxis Broadband to make the connection faster and more stable ( Like CONNECTIFY DISPATCH ) ?

3) Will LAN-ing out to the DDWRT Dlink be a waste as RB751G-2HnD could handle the job of stability and DNS Forwarding too.

Thank you

Based on my mikrotik knowledge (if got wrong please correct me)

1) Yes, the setup is very easy. You can reach high speed too.

2) Yes you can

3) This I don't sure, but mikrotik really 3 in 1 (mean got all functions u need in a box)

Btw I got my own question here.

I have installed mikrotik x86 on VMWare, the question is can I LAN out from my PC ethernet port to wireless router? I know that I can do that if I install it on PC itself, but my problem is they were installed in VMWare, mean software in software lol sweat.gif

Planning to set up hotspot, since I have sold my RB751G wub.gif

If you could send/borrow me a Draytek, I would love to do a review on it...

I believe the YES would work. There is another forumer (cloud computers or something like that) that sells Mikrotik stuff. I believe one of his post wrote that the mikrotik is compatible with YES and also P1. I have not tested it, but I am sure if you message him, he will let you know.

I already asked cloudcomputer about yes modem, he said he didnt know. and he want manufacturer info about yes modem, perhaps he can do some research.

CloudComputer said that YES modem is some sort of Wimax modem, so it should be supported by mikrotik. I dont have YES modem with me, someone willing to test whether mikrotik detect yes modem or not

Try to use winbox instead of webfig, it is more convenience. You can access mikrotik thru its MAC address using winbox, instead of webfig you cant do that.

Btw I got this problem when try to access 192.168.88.1/user. My hotspot customer want to change their login password. I am using ROS v6.5.

anyone can share a link on how to set up SSH connection within the RouterOS? I am using RB2011UiAS with maxis 3g modem. And i want to mask my connection with SSH. Right now I am connecting my SSH using software GUI on my client, but in order to do that I need to set up the GUI on every clients and I dont want that. What I want is that the SSH connection will trigger in the router itself thus all the client connect to it can surf anonymously within the SSH. Can someone enlighten me with this problem? Much appreciate.

I use below console command, "Unifi PPPoE" is my pppoe dialer interface, you need to replace it with your interface name.

- interface=bridge-local  (bridge-local is my data vlan bridge, replace with your data vlan bridge name)

I have problem with some site like lowyat, therefore i temporary disable it. Didn't really spend extra time checking it.

Can I use this method for TIME dotcom? Or TIME does not yet support for IPv6 in mikrotik?

Hehehe just a quick update

Manage to play the RB4011 with WiFi using 1 Gbps Fibre

Speed is quite great

Only able to pust maximum capacity speed with fasttrack rule enable

CODE
/ip firewall filter add chain=forward action=fasttrack-connection connection-state=established,related
/ip firewall filter add chain=forward action=accept connection-state=established,related

Anyway here is the video
*
I am using hAP ac with TIME 1Gbps manage to get only 900Mbps speedtest. When download I can achieve 113Mb/s. Fasttrack already enable and also hw offload.

Just thought I do a quick test with hAP AC2 6.44rc1 with Fasttrack OFF. A but surprised.

cpu0 & cpu1 at constant 100%

user posted image
server is TIME, not sure why it's 600miles.

Will double check later but:
1. Fasttrack rule disabled
2. Fasttrack counter dummy rule does not increase

Fasttrack ON as per my earlier test is slightly higher at 850Mbps with substantially lower CPU%.

you have to disable fastpath and route cache in the IP Settings also. Also bridge setting set to use IP Firewall.
