If you could send/borrow me a Draytek, I would love to do a review on it...

I believe the YES would work. There is another forumer (cloud computers or something like that) that sells Mikrotik stuff. I believe one of his post wrote that the mikrotik is compatible with YES and also P1. I have not tested it, but I am sure if you message him, he will let you know.

I already asked cloudcomputer about yes modem, he said he didnt know. and he want manufacturer info about yes modem, perhaps he can do some research.

It would be great if you could let prospective buyers to do some test on some of the most commonly used modems like Huawei E372, E398 and MF680.

If all these modems can be used, i am sure there will be lots of buyers.

Will it be just plug and play or need some tedious setup as Mikrotik is known for "hard to setup" ~ which inturn keep noobs like me away

I too might consider buying one if its easy to setup.

Hi Bro,

The list of supported 3G/4G LTE modems are listed at http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Supported_Hardware. E372, E398 and MF680 are very popular modem models and they are definitely working with MikroTik, there are many MikroTik users with these modems, you can find their experience on Internet. biggrin.gif

The setup is not plug and play but it's relatively easy, similar to PPPoE connection, you can find some examples in the links below.

http://www.nadasumbang.com/setting-usb-mod...ik-rb751u-2hnd/
http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php...d-USB-3G-Modems

You can find one crazy setup with quad 3G WAN connection on one RB751U-2HnD in the post above. drool.gif

I have tried with 2 modems. One is a more up to date ZTE which is still available at the shops, and also a old "Blue Cube" 3G dongle. Both works, but you may need to try all the combination of the Data Channel & Info Channel till it works.

If anyone has got any of the dongles, you can send it to me, and I can happily try it out for you guys. If you have a YES, send it over, I am sure it will work.... because essentially they are all modems, and probably still use some AT commands to get it running.

Setting up ALL Mikrotiks will be the SAME. Start with a blank sheet, and add your settings in 1 by 1. But nowadays got "quick set" which helps you with some DHCP/DNS/PPPOE/NAT pre-set for you, saving you the trouble.

Added on January 3, 2013, 6:56 pmOK, I just called up a friend who has some experience with YES Dongle and their ZOOM devices....

the long answer short....

NO, it will not function with the YES Dongle via USB and the ZOOM will not function as Bridge mode with your router....

so both devices would NOT work....

Hi guys, we have a good news to share here. MikroTik is going to announce a upgraded version of RB751G-2HnD, it has more powerful CPU (600Mhz instead of 400Mhz), more RAM (128MB instead of 64MB) but same form factor.

The new model is RB951G-2HnD and the details are available at http://www.mikrotik.com/download/share/RB951G_2HnD.pdf.

MikroTik is going to announce it very soon and Cloud Store is going to import it to Malaysia once it is available! rclxms.gif

Other than that, MikroTik is also going to announce a best price/performance CPE in market! SXT Lite5, details here: http://www.mikrotik.com/download/share/SXT_Lite5.pdf

Hi guys...
Anyone here very pro with QoS with mikrotik router?

I followed klseet's instructions.

http://klseet.com/index.php/mikrotik/mikro...rotik-rb750-qos

1. When I play youtube the data transfer will go to highest priority of the queue.
2. When I torrent, the data transfer will go to lowest queue.

Test 1
Downloading ISO files, highest queue.
Start torrent, lowest queue.
Highest queue still have the priority, klseet's guide set it that way.

Test 2
Youtube streaming, highest queue.
Start torrent, lowest queue.
Highest queue been taken over by the lowest queue.

Anyone can help me with this QoS issue? sad.gif

I see the klseet has very good detail in the explanation.... what don't you understand?

You should be able to copy his work, and get it running....

What is the problem with your setup?

Eric

Though that the packet tagging already categorize my youtube (port 80) to highest priority
and
My torrent packet tagging to the lowest priority.

BUT when i run BOTH simultaneously, the torrent downloads still take over the youtube streaming (port 80)

Remember to include port 443 (https)....
And include any other/all ports that youtube may use to stream.....

You need to be very specific....... when you are trying to do QOS....

good luck....
