Has anyone tried 6.0rc5? I"m getting much better wifi performance with it on an RB751G-2HnD than 5.21 on an RB751U-2HnD. Previously I could not stream movies from Plex Media Server to my iPhone. Now it's OK. Router is downstairs, front of the house to room upstairs at the back of the house. about 50ft.

We haven't try it yet but your experience is very good to hear, we should try it on our devices soon

Please try, wonder if it imporve the external Wifi

It's definitely a lot better. Finally it's usable. Previously even the TM DIR-615 has better wifi than it. Now even in the toilet, I can check my email.

Are there any hardware differences between the G and the U, aside from more RAM and the GB switch?

I'm going to try 6.0rc5 with the U and see if it's all in the OS.

@weikee: Do you know where to buy mmcx-rpsma converter pigtail? Thinking of trying an external antenna.

I don't think so I guess it's all in the software.

I think I will do the same and upgrade the RB751U-2HnD to 6.0rc5 and see if that helps.

We installed and sold hundreds of RB751, most of our customers reported better wireless performance than DIR-615.

Don't waste money. I have one. Even 10ft away clear view from the antenna it get 1/2 strength signal.

Unless the new Firmware fix the problem. You can read in mikrotik forum I am not the first one complaning.

That's good to hear. For me, the RB751U-2HnD (v5.21) is the worse wifi AP I've ever used. From the same spot in my house where I had a DIR-615, AEBS & DIR-655, the RB751U performed terribly and I mean really, really bad. As an AP, of course, as PtP with 2 units in nvstreme, it's great.

The RB751G-2HnD is another story. Performs much better as AP. This one has 6.0rc5. I didn't try this one with 5.x so I don't know whether it's the hardware or OS.

When I have time, I think I will upgrade the RB751U to 6.0 and test again.

btw, do you sell mmcx antenna or pigtail converter for rp-sma?

Added on December 11, 2012, 4:51 pmJust found one more difference, with RB751G, you can put all 5 ethernet ports into a switch group. With RB751U, only ether2-5 can be switched together. If you want to use ether1, you gotta bridge or route it.

Let's say the RB751U is on 6.0rc5.

Restore to it a config backup from an RB751G also on 6.0rc5.

After that, you can set it up, change your identity, add an interface, change an IP address or whatever you like, it works as expected. Until you reboot...

If you reboot the router, all the changes are gone. Somehow the router reverts back to the config restored earlier. Even configuration reset doesn't help. So wierd.

You mean with internal antenna or external antenna?

With internal antennas.

I'm got 1 mmcx antenna with convertor. Antenna is 5dbi.

If want pls let me know, coz i'm not use it already...

Isn't that for 3G 2.1 GHz? Will it work for Wifi 2.4Ghz?

Yes, you can downgrade but 6.0rc5 is running fine so you probably don't have to.

is Wifi 2.4Ghz.

I need help guys, I just now reset configuration with tick option on Do not Save backup on RB751G-2HnD, after it reboot it cant detect usb port. How can I solve it?
