Yep, i did iperf from my UDM Pro to my Unraid server with Mellanox Connect X-2, peaks about 8 ish. Pretty sure there are youtube videos testing that also, defo can get multigig speeds.

10 years down the road. We don't know how far RJ45 will go. I don't want to heck my house wall again. I learn a lesson with cat5.

Instead of putting a conduit, you chose to bury non-standardized cable in your wall.
Looks like you didn't really learn anything.

After having buyer's remorse, you are here telling people to commit stupidity. How sinful.

I'm here telling everyone anything above CAT6A is a scam. There's no IEEE standard, no product at all. You literally get sold a SATA 8 cable for future-proof and better gaming experience.

You think is cheap to put a conduit. Well there is cat 9 and to 10 in the Horizon. Embrace it.

Then is it cheap to keep buying fake standards cable?

You are literally contradicting yourself, you keep saying that “Oh Cat9/Cat10 is coming”, and yet you are putting Cat8 in your walls. What you’re gonna dig up again when Cat10 comes?

Bruh.

Is called future proof for the house. My house is not a data center.

I agree that whatever standard came out after CAT6A is irrelevant and more of a marketing gimmick. Copper is still relevant for speeds below 10Gbps, anything beyond that will require fiber optics cables for efficiency and cost optimization. Want to use CAT7, CAT8? Go ahead, won't be much differences except for the placebo effect.

Another +1 to everything after CAT6A is useless.
I really wonder how much of those CAT7/8/9/10 cable really conform to whatever standard if it even exist.
P/S: Still here happily using my 10+ years old cat 5e cable. Just buy whatever suits your need.

Cat7 isn't even a TIA standard to begin with. Running fibre is easier to upgrade imo. Just change the SFP transceiver if you need to upgrade, put a switch/media converter to convert it to RJ45.

Bro go check your fact. Are you sure cat8 is not TIA standard.

Now I sort of manage to trunk the port now under 50, however I am able to access Internet but when I try to access local address, ie.. 192.168.1.1, the page stuck on loading, and I try to to ping the address, there is response.
Any area should I look at?

Thanks.

The key point here is concealed wring is PITA when comes to re-wiring/repair. Just use cat 6/6A today (cheaper cost for 10G), 10Gbps should be sufficient for most home for many years. Cat 5e cable can achieve 5Gbps within 50 meters. it is even possible for 8Gbps.

Want future proof and ease of maintenance, don't do concealed wiring.

For case like this, just do packet capture on your machine. Start capture, access the problematic IP, stop capture.
Then analyze it. No guesswork.

Fully agree. There are so many stick on wall and high bend radius fiber optic cable right now. That's how they do FTTR.

Hi guys, I would like to use my eth1(WAN) port as normal LAN port. Possible to convert? If yes, mind to teach me how?
