I think it quite normal happens on mikrotik router,as sometimes i can see people talks about their ethernet port died on mikrotik forum. (Amost every model will have the possibility of ethernet died)

Update: RB5009 ether1 port 60% dead. Working at 1Gbps but not at 2.5Gbps.

The yellow LED which is on all the time now is to indicate poe-in. Looks like something inside got shorted.

First time need to do RMA. Anyone gone through warranty claim with Subtel before? Easy or not?

My ax3 is quite consistent at 20C above ambient when the ceiling fan is on and 25C above ambient when the fan is off.

CPU load is fairly low. Mostly at 1-2% with the occasional spike to 6%. It's running as an AP, switch and 3 containers (1 of which is only active every 60 days for a miniute.)

Currently (1:50am) it's at 49C. Room temp is 29.5C. Ceiling fan on.

Also got hAP ac2 but this has no temp sensor.

I think Mikrotik price is more reasonable and cheaper, which can think we actually is buying routeros software with free mikrotik hardware.
I bought RB750Gr3 few years ago because of Soonwai. tongue.gif
Thanks to Soonwai for bringing me to the Mikrotik RouterOS world,
I using alot of wireguard service with worldwide vps as VPN usage. brows.gif

My future plan will be 1-2 years(2024/2025) later that i will just buy CCR model to replace my RB5009. (Current usage for Wireguard is "performance hungry")
My estimated model will need atleast 2 SFP+ port with at least 1 10G Ethernet and maybe multiple 2.5G ethernet port.
1G can have or not,as i not really care about it,and I just bought a 2.5G switch(8x 2.5G and 1x SFP+ port) on taobao with 10G DAC cable to link with RB5009.

And i hope at the that time,Mikrotik have change their router to use the newer generation CPU(like recent 1-2 years released) for their router.
Current CCR cpu grade seems like not so powerful.

My RB5009 always below 40c. Big heat sink below it and 3small fans rotating shift 24/7

waiting Mikrotik hardware latest to launch hopefully

Mine no fans other than the room’s ceiling fan but I use it as my metal ruler holder. LOL. The ruler helps 1-2C.

Yo soonwai brows.gif

Give me review on MikroTik RB5009 and your usage scenario. Much appreciated if you're willing to. I planned to try out UDM-Pro by Ubiquiti, but Subtel's inhouse network engineer is not good enough in guiding me or providing me crucial details about UDM-Pro.

No bro. I didn't proceed to buy the UDM-Pro. I still lean towards Mikrotik for their robust routing feature. However, I do have experience in using UBNT's EdgeRouter, precisely the 6P model. One of the best SME router I've used. Still, RouterOS wins.

bro, no time to do proper review. What do you want to know? Basically same old same old. Just faster processor, one 2.5G port, one 10G SFP+, ROS7, container support which is really nice.

I just use as a router only. Nothing special. Just as legacy wireless package Capsman, a few internal VLANs, dyndns script. The containers also, I don't run on the RB5009, I put them on the ax3.

What's new in 7.9 (2023-May-02 08:35):
*) ipv6 - send out RA packet with "preferred-lifetime" set to "0" when IPv6 address is deactivated;

Is the above working for you all?

I've been using the script below to achieve the same thing since ROS6. Lazy to reconfigure my router to try.

Script (by sob) is from here: https://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?t=182894#p911478

*Can't seem to post the script. Trigger lowyat forum security every time. For some reason, lyn does not like this line of text:

Hi soonwai, thanks man for responding. Just wanted to know what your view about the RB5009 since you are the one who introduced me to MikroTik. I plan to buy RB5009 as my old RB750Gr3 does not support container since it is based on MMIPS architecture. So sad container requires MT routers with arm, arm64, and x86 architectures. Eventually I sold my RB750Gr3 to buy / planning to buy the RB5009. So, just poking you to know is the performance of the RB5009 is good or versa.

Performance pretty good. As you know, I'm only Unifi 800/200. I run the RB5009 with Fasttrack off. If I do https://speedtest.tm.com.my, CPU is about 40%.

My ax3 is running Adguard Home & Uptime-kuma and the CPU there is 1-2% with an occasional spike to 6%. Should be no problem putting these containers on the RB5009. Also have a 3rd container for letsencrypt but that only runs every 60 days.

Are you planning to upgrade to higher package like 1/2Gbps? Do you think investing in MT 10GbE switch for home lab project, good? Have you used their switches before?
