Can run Adguard Home as a RouterOS container. I do this on my hAP ax3 which also runs uptime-kuma. Zerotier is already part of RouterOS. This runs on my main RB5009 router.
Aiyo, cannot google meh? Busy lah.

didnt try to put anything in any mikrotik i encounter yet. maybe will learn about this later.

previously at home i'm using rb750gr3 and nextdns. set the given dns on dhcp and the dynamic ip address at nextdns control panel.

now changed to mikrotik + raspberry pi (adguard open source & file storage)

Got rid of the Deco x20s and got the hAP ax3. Just one unit for now. Will probably get another next month. Or maybe cAP ax.

As usual, router is RB5009. Unifi 800. x20s replaced with the new ax3 and old hAP ac. Both APs are wired.

Actually the Deco x20s have been working well and stable other than:
• No way to specify a device to connect to a certain node.
• No way to adjust the transmit power of 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz on the Decos.
• 2.4Ghz are set to 40Mhz channel width. Cannot change this to 20Mhz.

Notes: (on 7.9rc2)
- Currently running 7.9rc2 because I wanted to see if it fixes the docker pull error. No, it doesn't.
- Still have errors pulling newer containers from docker hub. (eg: Adguard Home)
- Switch chip no hardware offloading yet.
- ax3 wifi died after 3 days. So far happened once. (key handshake timeout for all devices) Needed to reboot. Unsure if this happens in 7.8.
+ Speeds around the same as x20.
+ Range better than the x20
= Can't test roaming yet since I only have one unit.
+ Capsman works but not compatible with each other. So, in mixed wireless and wifiwave2 environments, you'll need 2 controllers.
- Wifiwave2 Capsman no forwarding yet, only local.
- Wifi reg table only shows link speed. No longer shows width & chains.
+ Container support is great. Currently running Adguard Home and uptime-kuma on the ax3.
+ If plan to run containers, probably better to get ax3 or cAP ax instead of ax2 bcos of USB port.

Speedtests below. Ookla Speedtest to Singtel. Unifi is 800/200. Have not tested wifi ax to LAN.

Ya, I reset-config no-defaults then configure from there. The config is minimal, just 1 bridge and ports and the wifi. And the containers. First tried 7.8 then 7.9rc2 when encountered the docker pull problem.

ax3 is RM685. Bank vouchers will help with this.

A bit cheaper if buy direct.

Generally speaking I wouldn’t buy Mikrotik just for its WiFi. It’s always underperforming.

I'm curious. Are they still better than consumer wifi like TPlink, Asus, Deco...etc?

wifi will be almost the same but they are more to stable rather then fast. Free software upgrade and their hardware very hard to breakdown.
Best part you can link all their hardware from 10years old product.

Anyone using containers? Any way to check how much RAM each container is using in RouterOS? atm I can only see total men usage in /System/Resources.

My hAP ax3 (basic AP config) running 3 containers, Adguard Home, uptime-kuma and Lego Letsencrypt client using total of 708.6MiB of RAM.

True

It's best for your router gateway but for the wifi got few issues like unit overheating better think other access point to get wifi 6 or wifi 6e

For the older devices using "wireless" package, stability is very good and plenty of features but speed sure slower than consumer stuff. Here, I believe, Mikrotik wrote their own wireless driver. The new "wifiwave2" package uses stock driver. Can consider as work-in-progress for Mikrotik. Speed is much better ootb. The hAP ax3, and presumably the ax2, is actually faster than Deco x20 a bit.

However, still very unstable. Wifi on the ax3 keeps dying on me.
