Sorry, but I beg to differ.

I have the 42x20k, 42s30k and samsung ps51e550. The FHD TVS looks sharper to me, especially when watching blu-ray.

But not to say the HD is bad, just FHD is better. Just go for the best one you can afford and enjoy.

Sharper or not it depends on your settings.

42" at proper viewing distance; 8-10ft. It doesn't really makes any differences even with blu-rays. Unless you sit very close to the screen.

Thank you for your opinion but obviously you haven't experienced the difference between a FHD Plasma vs HD ready Plasma when it comes to playing blu-ray vids or using your TV as a monitor for your PC.

I can actually notice the difference and it's quite obvious. I'm asking for the price because it's been a while since I surveyed the Plasma tv prices and I'm just need the model number for reference so that I don't waste my time looking at something that not worth to spend my money on.

Upgraded to 50U30K 8 months ago from 30" CRT TV.

Now 50" feels so small. How I wish Pana made 65" non-3D U series. sad.gif

Nothing's wrong. I'm just a Pana-fan. Always have been. tongue.gif

This is my first Samsung, and after a few months of using it, I have to say I'm pretty pleased with its performance. I'm also enjoying the 3D.

But after reading the reviews and seeing the new Pana's, I wished I had gotten one. At least my Sammy's a 51 incher.

Oh well, c'est la vie. biggrin.gif

Of coz there is difference.. you're referring to content details and not sharpness.. it depends how far you were from the screen.

I have 3 plasmas already FHD and 768p, BD movies at 10 ft or more makes no differences between 720p and 1080p, you are talking about 42" arent you?

IMO they are better than plasma when viewed at close distance, 1-3ft. The "dancing/jumping pixels" may cause eye fatigue for long play on plasmas, LCD pixels are much stable and static, they best suit PC gamers using HDTV as monitors at below 4ft distance. If you want to use it like a PC monitor might as well get the 32".

IPS produce darker black, more durable and better viewing angles.

How's the performance compared to VT30K? They're not bringing in the GT50 series? VT > GT > ST right?

Thanks. Quite a big jump up from the ST50. Anyone here do ISF calibration on both models and can tell how they compare? What stores have them both on display?

My 8+ year old Pioneer 50" plasma has served me well but looking for an upgrade with larger screen smile.gif

For me, ST series is a beautiful tv already yet worth for money.

many people are talking more on VT and GT series but the intention to buy is low, very low.

I hv yet to calibrate any 2012 Panasonics. Once I calibrate them, I will post my findings accordingly. However, I hv talked to fellow calibrators in the UK/US about the performance. The ST50 post calibration is value for money compared to the GT50/VT50. The filters are very close if not the same, the calibration controls are coarser but in can be calibrated well in spite of that. I might evaluate on for myself to replace my aging Pioneer 428XG just for the kicks. In my case I would probably add a video processor and I believe bring it up to the level of the VT (maybe - needs verification...)
