Instead of the on I mention above, what laptop can use i7 but price quite reasonable ?

I just realize RM3009 is too much just for surf internet and play normal gameĀ  sweat.gif

why do u need an i7 if just normal internet and game?

if your activity is not demanding so much, probably you wont need those many cores there.

if just normal movie, ms work, some games, i5 should be ok, even i3 can handle.

just my opinion, but if you are using some software that needs i7 then you should buy the i7, if not later may be very hard for your work.

Hi guys. Im currently looking for a laptop within a budget of rm5k. Basically i do alot of heavy designing and i require my laptop to respond fast. Softwares that i use are photoshop cs5, illustrator, After effects and 3ds max. My current laptop can no longer handle the tasks i throw at it lol as i multitask most of the time with photoshop and illustrator both open. One the side note, im actually lookin at m14x but held back due to reviews of hot temp and noisy fan. My friend are trying to convert me to mac but being the lazy ass i am, i feel reluctant to learn a new os. I also have a question for the sifus here : as my work ( design and 3d modelling ) needs fast response from the laptop, what actually is more important? Graphic card or processor? Thanks in advance rclxm9.gif

If no pro in this, but if I'm not mistaken, both the processor, GPU and RAM are important for your work.
The M14x is rather powerful, but as you said, it gets hot and loud when under load, not really recommended if you hate loud machines hehe~ The m14x is rather heavy as well, heavier even than standard 15 inchers

Macs on the other hand are good because they offer very good screens, particularly useful if you're into designings and stuffs. But Macs are relatively more expensive, and may require some time to get used to if you're new to OSX

Imho, the better pick would be the Dell XPS 15/ 15z, though if it's me I'd go for the former. You'll need to compromise abit in terms of size, but then, with the screen upgrade, you'll have virtually the best of everything (apart from the slightly weaker GT540m GPU)... With your budget, you could opt for the 3 years warranty coverage as well for a peace of mind~

The XPS 15 with i7 + 9-cell battery + screen upgrade + 3 years warranty extension is approx. RM4.6k iinm thumbup.gif

Hmm thanks @tj and i see that you use m14x as well. Currently dell is selling the full spec at 4999 if im not mistaken. Is the fan really loud? And is the heat really unbearable? I used to have a lappie that heats up so much on the left hand rest it hurts slightly. Dont really like dell cause their aesthetic is terrible imo. Sigh am also considering MBP15 but news are out that apple will be updating their line of lappies. Damn cause i already need to change my laptop. Sob.

By the way is asus rog g53sw/g53jw series good? Whats the rrp and i noticed that its specs loses to m14x?

Yeah, using the M14x, the fan is super loud, that's for sure haha, and no doubt is the M14x's biggest drawback laugh.gif
As for the heat, it depends very much on your configurations, those with SSDs were reported to have much lower temperatures nod.gif The hottest parts are the right lower palm rest [Optical drive and HDD] and the upper center (Alien head there) [CPU with no dedicated fan]

Err.. Seen the Dell XPS 15 and XPS 15z yet? Those are pretty good as well nod.gif

The G series are powerful gaming machines, but the screen resolution is sub-par though@1366x768... Unless you import the ones with FullHD lo sad.gif

The MSI CR430x and Lenovo B470 seems rather worth it for the price they offer nod.gif
