Apart from the Asus A43Sv and A43Sa that you're aiming for, can consider the Dell Vostro 3450 as well

The AMD HD6730 is slightly better than the GT540m.
The AMD HD6630 is more or less on par with GT540m, but has larger OC potential

3. Usage : Word processing, internet browsing and some games such as Left 4 Dead

4. Preferred laptop/screen size : Any size

the vostro is in my spreadsheet/watch list as well the last time i bought a laptop was 2 years ago, and i thought backlit kb is already standard for most >2k laptop range nowadays. really keen on the asus but lack of backlit kb is holding me back. does the acer timeline x have backlit as well? couldnt find the info from their website.
