but

A53SV-SX480V @ RM2,249 [i5-2430, 4GB RAM, 500G HDD, NV GT540-1G]

and

A43TA-VX047v, AMD A6-3400M + AMD HD6720 G2@RM1899

from the other thread, how come you pay 2.2k? you mean the 2.2k for A43TA right? it should not be that expensive.

A53 and A43 are different size laptop, you can know by seeing the laptop when you open it. if you bought A43TA, i think they should give you A43SV, but i am not sure.

the price is quite weird, may be you have to check again?

Hi Si-Fu's,

I would appreciate all you si-fu's advice on what's the best-value-for-money notebook for my needs at the moment. icon_question.gif

1. Preferred Brand
Can be any brand but prefer:

(a) Reliable - meaning it should be durable and long-lasting. Prefer it to last more than 4 years as it would only see minimal use for banking transactions and light-surfing. The less complications or problems with drivers, conflicts and what-not, the better. Do not want to fiddle with the notebook once I start using. Must have win7 O/S pre-installed.

(b) Easy to read-screen. Matte finishing (i.e. non glossy-screen). So long as it's clear and brightly lit and easy on the eyes.

© Keyboard should be solid, large, easy to type on.

(d) Temperature: Using in a non-air conditioned room. Prefer one that doesn't overheat easily.

(e) Don't mind it's look. Doesn't need to be stylish, light etc. Can be heavy, look like a brick for all I care. Most important are things like the hinges and plastic don't crack easily and durable.

2. Budget
Approximately RM1.4K (must have win7 O/S pre-installed).

3. Usage
Main usage: using for internet surfing and banking transactions. Would also like to use it for MS Office applications, watching movies and listening to songs. Prefer if battery can last about 3-4 hours.

4. Size
14 inch or more.

Thanks in advance for your advance and help. thumbup.gif

Unfortunately you might need to compromise on the matte-screen for that budget bro sad.gif
I think the closest to what you need is the Dell Vostro series laptops, which are around RM2-2.5k hmm.gif

Dear [PF] T.J. sifu,

Thanks for the quick reply. I google'd around Dell Vostro. Looks pretty good actually but it's quite new model right?

Tempted to get one, but maximum budget is RM2K but it's breaking the bank already... Any idea which Dell specs would be best value for money?

The more I look at the higher end notebook, the more I'm tempted to spend... must control myself biggrin.gif

Dell Vostros have been around for quite some time now nod.gif
If you don't mind a relatively smaller screen (11.6"), this would be a good pick:
Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E120, i3-2357UM + Intel HD3000 + (1366x768)@RM1799 (FreeDOS), RM1999 (W7HP) [1.5kg], 18 months on-site warranty, water resistant keyboard, Colors: Red/Black

Otherwise,
Dell Vostro 1450, i5-2410M + Intel HD3000@RM1949, W7HB, Belkin HDMI cable, Belkin Radius 15.6" Backpack
Dell Vostro 3450, i3-2330M + Intel HD3000@RM2139, W7HB, Belkin HDMI cable, Belkin Radius 15.6" Backpack

The 1450 ain't really a looker, but its quite affordable for the specs, and is matte in design iinm nod.gif

Oh yeah... I meant Dell Vostro 1450 is the newer model that just recently came out.

Hmmm ... beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so Dell Vostro 1450, i5-2410M + Intel HD3000@RM1949 is looking rather good. Thanks for the recommendation. biggrin.gif i5 core is too *pow-derful* for me... I think should downscale to i3 so I can cheaper price ... hehe.

Just wanted to ask, what's the major difference between 1450 and 3450?

Dell Vostro 1450, i3-2310M + Intel HD3000@RM1699, 2GB, W7HB, Belkin HDMI cable, Belkin Radius 15.6" Backpack then hehe~
We don't have any reviews on the 1450, so its hard to say... but judging by the relatively large price difference, Dell must've cut some corners in the 1450... One thing's for sure, the 1450 is a pure business-orientated notebook laugh.gif

Perhaps you would want to try it out and the let us know how the laptop fares? notworthy.gif

any 1 using same as mine? impossible dust.. i jz bring back ytd new 1.. haven pass 24hr ><
5x-7x in aircond room.. liano only 5x-60 as i know AMD < Intel in temperature..

erm so, for conclusion actually 53SV > 43TA
used both on same game.. load speed 53SV also more fast.. as i5 > AMD A6-3400
graphic i feel GT540M>AMD6720G feel smooth
