Problem is we do not know if we have exceeded the MFD. With AF we know when the lens cannot lock focus. When MF we can only rely on our eyes to see if the focus is correct.

Try moving a little back and forth and see if the focus can get sharper or not. It may help.

Hi sifus!! i would like to join the family with my first 'going to buy' Alpha series, but i cant make up my mind. Can anyone help to suggest? its for myself and my family use. I am actually thinking about A35, NEX C3 or NEX 5. the price of all 3 are similar.

For Sifus with A35, is it kind of laggy for the EVF?i saw from some post that there are 0.5 seconds of delay ,and the shutter also comes with another 0.5 seconds of delay . Is it true?

There would only be the flash lag, I doubt there is a shutter lag in this case.

If you want something compact, NEX is the way to go.

Finally gotten my hands on the A77. Omg the shutter is SILENT! I didn't know a pic was taken and kept waiting for the closing shutter, thinking it was a long exposure shot coz there's no 2nd mirror slap. It's just 'shiik' instead of 'click clack'.
As for the EVF, huge! But still lacking the OVF touch. Buttons are smaller than I'm used to with the A700. Same goes with the dials. Smooth but small. Also I'd like a bit more resistance with the dial movement.

On a lighter note, the A77 silent shutter is damn gooding when it comes to skodeng-ing

What lag? Define lag? On the A77 at least, I sense no such thing. On the A55, i sense only the flash lag.

Maybe there are more lags out there?

I just went midvalley la. Sony style there to test the camera only, 1st time see the cam physically ma since I didn't go klpf also. And nah, don't think will go for A900/850. I'm really concerned more about the noise. 3year old tech, how also the noise will still be there, even the a580 noise already easily beat the A850 noise level.

my bad, i was trying to say delay...kekekeke...i read review saying that there are a 0.5S delay with the EVF/real time lcd display...true?

for evf, u can c sum kinda blur + light trail when u change direction fast enuf, eg aiming F1 car moving at top speed, will make me abit dizzy @.@

maybe is my own eyes problem

lwliam: The A900 is still the best high ISO Sony body, just that its JPEG engine wasn't that great with noise.

When it comes to RAW the A900 is still cleaner.

iso performance is due to the sensor only or sensor + processor?? or maybe the NR algorithm used?

limsaiseong: the delay is not cause by evf, but programming issue with older SLT. the new SLT apparently people claim it was solved. we are still hoping for a firmware update to fix it.
