Like the moment. Like the costumes too. Were they incidental or deliberate?

clivengu : A77! Want to get more people to buy the A77 so that Sony will speed up the release of the next SLT FF! thumbup.gif whistling.gif

@_@ So fast new version thread.
Need some advise before getting these lenses:

Sony 28-75mm F/2.8  @ RM2500 + HOYA PRO-1 @ RM 105
or
Zeiss 24-70mm F/2.8  @ RM4600
SIGMA 70-300mm APO DG Macro + Regular Filter = RM900
Do advise whether to choose which lens better.. and any other better recommendation aside from these lenses?    notworthy.gif
Feels abit like got cheated on the SIGMA 70-300mm haha... brows.gif

You should ask yourself whether you're in for the long haul with Sony and whether you're going to go full frame in future. If yes then the Zeiss will be a much better investment. The 28-75mm is strictly for those with a FF cam and tight budget.

ahpingko : That depends on the condition of the lens. As you already know the beercan is an old lens. Although it's built like a tank but wear and tear do occur over time so make sure the lens is in good condition. The beercan is also a slow focusing lens although the 75-300mm is not fast by any means but keep that in mind. Of course if you like the 'Minolta' look the beercan is famous for then it's a good buy.

ieR : I like the shot but one thing bothers me. The grass flowers (the white bits on top) is much brighter than the subject and I feel that it is a little distracting in a sense. That's just me lar... nice shot overall.

Sony APS-C lenses can be used on Sony's FF bodies. You won't get vignette because the cam will automatically crop the picture to APS-C size. That means you will get a 11MP picture from a 24MP sensor. So if all you have are APS-C lenses then it means you're wasting half the sensor! No point going FF like that. Better get the A77.

Also, trying to frame a pic when using DT lenses on a FF body is bloody difficult. The markers for APS-C borders are hard to see. So you probably end up with inaccurate framing.

mmm when i first brought my 1750... i totally neglected 50mm... now that i sold 1750, i rediscover how good is 50mm... with it, i even discover the marvels of it with FF.

i understand the 'strength' of FF.... but i am not 'greed' of it. but seriously, if one ask me, what is my travel/walkaround/kitlens, i say it loudly, 50mm... (and maybe future 24 F2Z)... that all. they could deliver all studio and clubs and event shoting.

Ahhh..... I see the poison of FF is slowly taking its hold... sooner or later you will succumb to it! Muahahahahahahahah! brows.gif

paging for shootkk, wanna ask about sony 20mm f2.8. I read kurt munger's review and the coma and bokeh does disappoint me a little. How's ur experience about the bokeh and coma?
*
The 20mm f2.8 lens is an ULTRA WIDE lens for me so I use it to shoot landscape and wide spaces most times. That means I seldom get bokeh out from that lens, much less coma. I mean sometimes in the real world, tests like those done on review sites are seldom encountered. Why worry so much?

Seldom do I go so close and wide open that I get bokeh using that lens. The question you should be asking yourself is what do you intend to do with that lens? Does the so-called weaknesses listed in those tests apply to you and the way you shoot?

Why worry about bokeh and coma on a lens meant for landscapes and shooting at f8 to f11? The 20mm f2.8 MFD is not all that impressive either so if you wanna get really close, try a macro lens instead.

ahpingko : First things first. Do you really need the telephoto end? I used to have a SAL 18-250mm lens. Then I found that I seldom use the telephoto end and I am more prone to shooting wide than anything else.

So I sold off the lens and I don't miss it at all. Not even when I go travelling. If you don't need the tele end, if would be better to get the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 which would prove more useful and give you better IQ than a super zoom.

But of course you need to really know if you need the tele end or not.

EvanKeat : The SAL1650f2.8 SSM would be much more pricey than the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8

The SSM designation made sure of that! If you have the budget however, then by all means. I'm sure it'll be a great walkabout lens for APS-C bodies.

Why would Nikon come up with a CX format? Aren't there enough formats already? Frankly I prefer Sony NEX's APS-C.... dunno why I'm suddenly thinking about dingleberries...

I just read that Gary Friedman will be appearing at the Sony booths at KLPF!!

Also read in his blog that he is making a trip here to Malaysia in Oct. just yesterday so it must be true. He's inviting people to go shooting with him when he's here. Anyone interested? He's inviting you to email him. Too bad for me cause it's a Monday...

Read the last part of his blog:
