Awesome piece there Adam.
Now, try it with ball pen. Is it inked or just pencil? It looks a lil bit like a reverse bear trap. o.O" |

You need steady hand I guess. My advice is don't use mouse. To me, it's a bad practice. No matter how steady your hand is, it will still not produce a nice smooth line. Used to paint with a mouse before, but the end product didn't satisfy me much. ![]() You can see how the eyelashes are roughly lined... This post has been edited by vypur85: May 7 2012, 12:11 AM |

@adam, a friend in dA teach me:
QUOTE White hairs and whiskers can be a tricky thing to draw and there are a few ways to get a good result. First i will shade in the background behind the hairs lightly, then i will gently rub out the hairs with a kneadable eraser that has been shaped so i get a fine line. Then i can continue to shade in the background a bit more, slowly darkening it. Then i use the eraser to clean the hair line again. I will use a sharp pencil to shade the background again getting slowly darker still making sure i get as close to the hair line as i can, it helps to turn the drawing around to draw above the line and below the line. I re rub out the hair line in between layers. When i have got the background behind the hairline as dark as i want it i shape and erase the line one more time and then using a sharp pencil will sharpen up the hair line by shading around the hair again. It is very tedious work and it takes a bit of practice but it works. Some artists use white ink to add lines but the drawing should be fixed first or else the lines will turn blue when it mixes with the graphite. I tried eraser pencils but they don't keep a sharp point and electric erasers are not really that good either. Using the kneadable eraser works but it takes practice and bucket loads of patients. LOL i found it very very hard to do it. =( and electric eraser(at least mine) is not sharp enuf to do such tiny highlight on the hair...So remember shade in and then rub out .. repeat .. repeat .. and if you find an easier way let me know because it's a time consuming pain to do |
