QUOTE(pokwang @ Apr 27 2012, 10:06 PM)
Lead to what goal? You mean the Real penalty that that Ronaldo scored in the 6th minute? Yes, they didn't park the bus for the first 5 minutes. Neither did Chelsea. So what's your point? Bayern lead Real for 5 minutes, then went behind, then finally level at 2-1 into penalties. So, beside the first 5 minutes (which Real were actually on top), what other points in the match that Bayern were LEADING?
Do you actually know what parking the bus means? Or do you just throw it around because it sounds fancy? Parking the bus IS NOT the the same as playing defensive. Chelsea played defensive counter attack because its the only way to score against Barcelona. No team in the world can match the midfield possession of Barca's tiki-taka, not Real, not Bayern and not certainly Chelsea. Chelsea played classic 4-5-1/4-3-3 against Barca but flattened to the max due to the midfield pressure of tiki-taka. Only in the second half of the second leg did Chelsea played something like 6-3-0 (A.K.A Parking The Bus) when they were LEADING on away goal AND a man down AND without 2 first-choice center-back. You're confusing defensive counter-attacking with Parking The Bus.

so u are saying that chelsea dont park the bus rite in the first minute? shocking.gif shocking.gif
come on man, we all know chelsea park the bus right in the first leg. nod.gif
they park the bus and they won. even though i dont like it, but a win is still a win. sweat.gif
chelsea are in the final and not barca, cry.gif
and you cant avoid the fact that chelsea Park The Bus in both leg. doh.gif

No, I'm saying you're misusing the term Park The Bus. Chelsea DID NOT park the bus in the first minute. They park the bus in SECOND HALF of the second leg. Analyze the formation. First half 4-5-1. Second half it's like 6-3-0.

This is normal 4-5-1 (first half), NOT parking the bus.

THIS IS PARKING THE BUS (second half, 6-3-0)

PLEASE DON'T USE THE TERM PARK THE BUS SESUKA HATI!

I think Bielsa was everyone's favorite. You can see it in the poll in sport.es. I didn't even see Tito's name in the poll.

Going with pokwang here. They did not actually park any bus, only after thugry was sent off. Then a 747 came and parked in the Chelsea goal.

If you watch Chelsea play, you should know that's how they play mostly.

I heard  g.balague saying on Espnnews that Pep will take a sabbatical and return. If this is true it wouldnt be fair to the incoming coach knowing that he will be gone after a year.

But I highly doubt that this is what Pep wants.

I thought the press conference was at 11am local time so rushed home.
Was so pissed that I went to a buffet at Bukit Bintang so late. Wanted to leave before 4pm to beat the traffic but only arrived there at 3.30pm.

Suddenly the press conference is AFTER the training session, not directly after Pep announces it to the players in the morning.

In that case, I think Pep will stay.
I don't think that he the players would want to train after hearing the bad news because apparently he told them his decision the first thing in the morning.

----------

I hope Barcastuff will share a link to the press conference.
Although I won’t understand what they will be saying but if

1) Pep leaves – people become hysterical and start crying
2) Pep renews – people cheering and clapping

Best thing is for Pep to stay one more year but take AVB or Bielsa (dont think he wants to be a no.2 though) or whoever it is as no.2 to replace Tito so that it will be a smooth succession plan next season.

I had this in mind after thinking about Pep as no.2 for SAF rumors a few years back and also how La Lakers handled Phil Jackson’s health problems in the past.

I dont think he is a dirty player or anything but I dont understand how he say that it looks bad on tv and how he is not that kind of player.
Geez, it is so clear that he kneed Alexis. Nobody is accusing him of being a serial offender laugh.gif
But he was involved in a similar incident with Alexis in the 1st leg at Stamford Bridge too.
But I think that one was an accident.

Terry has always been a thug at heart, even when he was young in the fracas with Jody Morris. He's a typical jingoistic Englishman, what more can I say. If you thought the west ham firm was bad...

They parked the bus from the first minute on both legs.
After Terry was sent off, Chelsea had to score but they still didn't differ much.

And after Iniesta scored, I thought they had to open up but there was hardly any need for that because
Ramires scored in the injury time.

Perhaps if Ramires had not scored, we would;ve seen Chelsea open up in the 2nd half.

No idea about that. Never heard any on field dirty play from Terry before.

He wasn't on anyone's mind because he was thought to be one of the reasons for Pep to quit
cause Pep said before that he will quit if Tito quits but in the end, he is the one quitting first smile.gif

I have a feeling that he might come back soon.
2 seasons maybe.

Dang. I wish he would've done what Arsene Wenger wanted him to do.

didn't catch the first leg, but no they didnt start out parking the bus in the 2nd leg. as in what pokwang mentioned, you shouldn't confuse a defensive tactic with parking the bus. chelsea and a lot of english teams and maybe the whole seria A (lulz) play in that way, what they term counter attacking football. it's only when they really retreated into their shell, putting the whole team behind the ball is what we'd term parking the bus.

I would assume Chelsea started parking the bus when they got the first goal at Stamford Bridge and then again when they got the away goal at Nou Camp.

Their aim was to probably minimise goals scored by Barcelona and they managed with some good blocks and help of the woodwork. Who knows what might have happened if Sanchez or Pedro had scored to make it 1-0 or 1-1 and then Messi 3-1 but they also capitalise on some very poor Barcelona defending.

katnl, Obviously chelsea parked the bus from the very first minute. You can see 4-5-1 formation, 5 of the midfield staying behind to defend. Even the football pundits said so. 9 players stay to defend.

Pep Guardiola Leaves Barcelona As The Biggest Legend In Our History

Pep Guardiola has decided to leave FC Barcelona after 4 glorious years in which our club has achieved sporting excellence and matured into a much stronger, respected and well-organised institution.

Pep Guardiola's highly anticipated press conference did not turn out as I expected. While I was fairly sure the most successful coach in Barcelona history would leave, I must admit my heart was in denial and refused to believe the obvious truth even minutes after the dreaded announcement was made.

Pep Guardiola explained: “Four years is an eternity as Barcelona manager. The next person will be able to offer things that I wasn’t able to offer. It has been very demanding and a coach has to be strong and be able to get that energy across to the players. I have to recover it and I’ll do that by resting. I am leaving with the sensation of having done a good job and I’m proud of what I’ve done here, I am leaving at peace with myself”

Devastating news. In my mind, I had pictured Guardiola becoming Barcelona's version of the job Sir Alex Ferguson has been doing at Manchester United for decades: A man who knows the ins and outs of the club, someone who Culés can refer to when times turn ugly, an authoritative father figure who flies our Blaugrana flag with pride.

I was wrong - Guardiola decided to leave after giving Barcelona the best years of our over 110 years of history.

While many thoughts keep wandering around my mind at this stage, all I can say is: Thank you.

Thank you for the two Champions Leagues, three Ligas, two Clubs World Cups, two European Supercups, one Copa del Rey and three Spanish Supercups - Let's hope we can add another Copa del Rey next month and end on an even higher note!

Thank you for leading Barcelona to a 72% win rate under your management, scoring over 2.5 goals and only conceding 0.73 per match. Achieving such statistics while practising the most attractive football in the planet took Johan Cruyff's revolutionary attacking model into a whole new level.

Thank you for promoting Barcelona B to the Segunda Division and giving our youngsters a chance to compete at the highest level. Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets, Victor Valdes and many others wouldn't be where they are today without your guidance.

Thank you for making us Catalans proud by always promoting our name around the world, defending our values of hard work and determination, continuously searching for ways to build on our success. The Gold Medal that you were awarded by the Parliament of Catalonia is fully deserved.

Thank you for being honest with our players, fans and yourself. I can think of many managers who would have happily held to their privileged position and continued to collect their wages at the end of every month while doing the job half-heartedly. The fact you walked away the very second you realised you didn't feel fully committed to the job honours you.

I could go on signing Guardiola's praises for hours but, honestly, words can not explain how much admiration and respect El Noi De Santpedor has earned since he joined our La Masia academy as a skinny youngster back in 1984.

I am proud to say Guardiola will remain in Barcelona hearts forever, a legendary reference for future generations.

Gràcies Pep.

Hm, this again. You don't watch English football much I guess? You cant simply accuse any team playing defensively of parking the bus. It's different things

Obviously you lot have been spoiled by tiki taka, any team defending is termed parking the bus.

Chelsea was quite open before the red, with the exception that they were pinned a lot due to barca's possession. They tried to win the ball, defended against barca as normal. I repeat, as normal. This is how Chelsea plays, as do most English teams. Not every team has a xavi/iniesta/messi triumvirate.

So any team who has more than half the team pressing when attacked is parking the bus? Any team who has a naturally defensive mindset is parking the bus? Like that who want to watch epl or seria anymore?

You need to get it in your heads la. Defensive is not parking the bus. When Chelsea throws 5-6 players in the box, just waiting to soak up the attacks with no intention at all to win the ball or actually play football, THAT is a bus.

The pundits weren't wrong, Chelsea came with a defensive mindset. Which is how they always approach big sides. When did the pundit say anything about bus?
