why some of people like to quote "some says", "i heard someone says" or "i read from" doh.gif

i know you are going to buy an expensive items, but you will not know unless you see it for yourself.

of if you need to test it 1st, you can go to a showroom that displaying all the models. you can test it for yourself.

in my experience i exchanged my current led monitor twice. the 1st one had scratch on the screen, the second one had dead pixel. right now i am using the 3rd one and it is perform well until now.

my point is, you will not know what will happen before you buy it.

Hi guys, is it possible that if I have dual monitor, I want my game on 1 of the monitor in full screen, windows on the other?

Does it requires any softwares? Or just the settings in Nvidia control panel will do?

Mum will like..." so now u are some Disney Pixar graphic designer huh? Need multi monitor to browse Facebook and like status"

hi all sifus, would like to know the general lifespan of LCD monitors, as I'm plnning to buy secondhand, and dont want to get a unit that's dying.

Anyone here that is using an LCD 5 years or older which is still going strong?

any brand that's famous for long lasting, or opposite: dying fast?

Can share your view?

thx......

Yep, using one of the Dell 24" Ultrasharp's from 2007. 5 year warranty just ended in January and it's still going strong.

I had it changed several times during the 5 years but that was mostly because of the power button though.

If I'm not mistaken, S-PVA panel.

Anyway, it's always a 1-to-1 replacement when it comes to Dell monitors.

Shut off all lights in the room, use a torchlight and shine it directly into the LCD screen. Can you see any images? By the way, its not a simple fuse replacement. If the main fuse was blown then there would no power at all. If the inverter fuse blown then there could be some problems in the inverter section (possible short and/or component failure). hmm.gif

I managed to get one of old LCD fixed, that cannot be powered on, symptom quite similar, no blue light.

Throw it to the fixing shop, tell them if more than Rm100, just scrap the LCD.
2 days later, tell me total cost Rm80 or RM70 (can't remember), to replace a component (I believe it is fuse), and use it until now (almost 2 years).

Check the fuse in the main 3-pin plug if exist (usually very rarely spoil as this fuse is rated at 13A). Before this happened, were there other signs of monitor problems such as flickering, banding, reddish background (where its supposed to be white) and intermittent power issues (cannot switch on sometimes)? Besides the internal fuse, failures in other components such as power thermistor, capacitors, diodes and main switching MOSFET can lead to no power problems. The only way you can determine that is to open/disassemble the monitor and check the IP board (with some tools, such as a multimeter). hmm.gif

Just RM70 to RM80 to fix a fuse is rather expensive. I've fix those type of problems before myself (and for friends and other people) and costs less (which includes the cost of other failed components). tongue.gif
