i am using HP ZR2440W. it is too expensive comparing to dell ultrasharp u2412m, but it has 1:1 pixel mapping option. what you have is what will appear biggrin.gif and it has built it hard switch so that it will cut a power to monitor rather than switch off the soft button but still using < 1% of electricity biggrin.gif

you can get 21.5" less than 450. if you still want no more than 400, then 20" is suitable for you. it is still more than 19" after all biggrin.gif

you will get dell u2412m if you top-up another rm400 tongue.gif
anyway, that philips do not has hdmi, only dvi-d. if you do not have built in speaker on your display, you won't get any benefit by using hdmi smile.gif

Speaker? I thought using hdmi cable from gpu connect to monitor will give nice graphic.using vga or dvi cable is suck nowdays.is it true?
*
hdmi is dvi+audio.
what i am trying to tell, its video quality is same. if you do not have built in speaker in your screen or a speaker which plugged in to monitor's audio jack, then hdmi is unnecessary smile.gif

QUOTE(alvincks @ May 22 2012, 01:08 AM)
Good day,

About to buy Dell U2711 27" LCD to used it as main monitor to avoid extensive used and small screen from my Dell Latitude E6410 14" Notebook which using build in graphic card on chipset Intel GMA HD.

What i worry is whether my notebook will display nicely and utilise the screen resolution of this 27".

The LCD having resolution 2560 x 1440, but i'm not sure my notebook build in graphic card (Intel GMA HD) will support it.
Dell U2711 LCD Link :

Thanks for enlightenment !
*
last time i checked, dvi & hdmi only can shoot max 1920x1200 16:10 while rgb/vga/dsub can shoot max 2048x1536 4:3.
with your monitor max resolution 2560x1440 16:9, you need displayport (DP) to get that max resolution.

there is not much S27A950D samsung led 3d monitor in the market anymore. have they stopped producing it? which means another new model will b releasing?
*
it because its max resolution only 1920x1080. for 27" with that resolution, you may see large & stretch picture/video/desktop doh.gif

dell 27" can go to 2560x1440.

obviously u dunno much about gaming monitor? only full hd monitor can give 120mhz.. i only need full hd 1920 x 1080. no need for larger reso than that
obviously i am not like you, know everything about GAMING monitor. since i am not computer game addict, thats why i do care about resolution comparing with its diagonal size, rather than large size with small resolution wink.gif

seems like you have backlight bleeding/defect. just call dell and ask about how to send it back for a new replacement/warranty info.

you need to check your graphic card what is the max resolution output of hdmi it can produce. all graphic card can shoot 2560x1600 (16:10) via DP. since u2711 max resolution is 2560x1440 (16:9)
some graphic card that has hdmi only can display 1920x1200 60Hz

it is depend what is the max resolution both dvi/hdmi can produce. displayport can give max 2560x1600. assuming your display card has dvi/hdmi and displayport which can display 2560x1600, then you can use the biggest screen with biggest resolution, like 30" 2560x1600 x3, assuming that costs is not an issue to you wink.gif

or you can have 2560x1600 screen x6 with firepro v9800 graphic card wink.gif connected via miniDP

Where are you bought the monitor with FOC, and the warranty?
I'm targeting U2412M as well... Dell site RM899 (3 year warranty) + no freebie
*
if you call them, you can negotiate until the price becomes rm 800.00++ and of course without free gifts. all retailers even dell themselves will displayed the starting price 899.00

thats why you need to ask them.

Anyone know how to set LCD horizontal and size from 16:9 to 16:10 ? using 23 inch monitor
*
no you can't. if the display rated as 16:9 so you can only adjust a resolution based on 16:9 ratio.

No bezel = Gooding triple monitor setup *drool*

there is still a bezel at the bottom, so if you are do multi-display setup, it still has a gap at the center, assuming you are setup 4x4 display.

it is because dell has 2 seperate division: manufacturing and sales.

all retailers get the products from manufacturing division, same like dell salespersons themselves.
if you call and talk to dell representative, you can get the 899 price become as low as 799. it is a negotiating process. if you went online, pick a monitor, click the purchase button, submit your credit card info, the price will be 899.

3rd party retailers manage to sell 899 monitor with 830-870 range price WITH some so-called free gifts. the free gifts already bound in the price range, since they get the monitors from dell manufacturers with price range 750-780.

of course dell sales department want to generate a revenue. they cannot simply sell a monitor with an exact price came from their factory. wink.gif
