Hi,

currently is there any TV that can be used as monitor (surf net, gaming, watching movie) with similar output quality as those IPS panel monitor (eg. Dell ) ?

This is because the current monitor trend maximum size is around 27" (if not mistaken), i am looking for any size ranged 30" - 40"

May i know color contrast, clear text would be very much different ?
3D is not required. 1080p is a must

Well, it is all up to you.
You can test it yourself. Just connect the TV to the computer and live with it for a week.
If it satisfy you enough, keep it. If it don't, so next step is yours. icon_idea.gif
I bought a monitor because I have to. I need to replace my faulty CRT monitor. tongue.gif

I'm looking for a monitor for vertical viewing, especially web surfing... but with 1920*1080 resolution, it seems not really suitable for certain web that runs on 1280 reso...

Any recommendation?

Seem you can live with it, it is not necessary to buy a new monitor.
But, if you have extra penny why not? icon_idea.gif

if u ever know, most lcd tv selling outside are IPS
just use ur hand to press the screen and sit down on floor to see view angle changes
hard panel, no ripple =IPS (LG pana philips etc.. major brands)
soft panel, got ripple =PVA (samsung sony cheap priced toshiba etc..)
dell IPS range come from LG

u have to know about TV use 16-235 gradient while computer use 0-255, so u are losing accuracy with TV
dell have 30" model ultrasharp 3007, 3008 & 3011(latest) , call in to get best price

Both model has different resolution..
Some people prefer 16:9 (1920x1080) on U2312
Some people prefer 16:10 (1920x1200) on U2412
I prefer 16:10 because my other screen is 16:10 so I want it match together..
Can I know what is the purpose screen?

Little to no difference between these two screen's quality. You gain that extra 120PX resolution on the U2412HM. There's no other monitor where you can setup PLP like the Dell U3011 + FP2007 with either of these 24" and 23" IPS. There's also not color gamut advantage, they are both 82%. Get the cheaper one which is Dell's best selling IPS in the current market. The REAL DEAL for 24" Dell IPS is the U2410 which has 110% Color Gamut, in the same league as the U27 and U30. If you are not doing heavy photo and video editing, do not bother wasting money on the U2412 unless you really need that 120PX.

The U2312HM after color calibration delivers very natural and accurate color. Out of the box, it is still within spec but it's very bright and is a little over 6500k.

I now using 19" 16:10. I think will switch to U2312 because the price different RM300 for the 1 inches different, quite not worth sad.gif So i choose the U2312,thanks for the reply.

Anyway,Should I buy it online directly from Dell Onlineor buy in local store?

If you are from EAST MALAYSIA, buying from Dell would probably be cheaper if Dell's FREE shipping covers EM. You will lose 2 years warranty buy save over RM100.
