Chances? Definitely yes. The timeline is highly subjective, depending on your placing in the "queue". The higher points, the higher chance you will be granted earlier. But generally, you are looking at about 60-90 days post visa lodgement for the grant.
Once u get your Visa 189, does that also mean that you are granted the PR as well?

Grant visa 189 / 190, you're PR already. You'll have medicare, centrelink and government, education scheme
That's why it is very hard to get and precious

Hi cybermaster98, here are some basic information on the few common PR visas available:

http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/1119.pdf

This is a permanent residence visa. It lets you and any family members who have also been granted this visa to:

stay in Australia indefinitely
work and study in Australia
enrol in Medicare, Australia's scheme for health-related care and expenses
apply for Australian citizenship (if you are eligible)
sponsor eligible relatives for permanent residence
travel to and from Australia for five years from the date the visa is granted (after that time, you will need a resident return visa or another visa to return to Australia).

If you are not onshore in Australia, the chances of being hired are close to zero (for graduates with no experience).

If you really plan to work in Melbourne, first step is to apply for PR and move to Melbourne.

Things running pretty smoothly, finding job might be a challenge. If can't find jobs in short term, try to work casual instead while keep on looking.
I landed without job but found it in 2 weeks. Worked 1/2 year jumped to current job with higher pay. Bought a new house last month.
Be more confident during interview but don't bluff anything if you don't know. If you got interview means 50% chance. 2nd interview 90%

Depends on what you're studying. Applying is easy, meeting the criteria, that's the hard part. Also depends on what kind of job you're looking for.

No insult meant, but with your current level of English, I don't think you'd score the necessary band 7 in IELTS writing required to migrate.

My advice is to fulfil the most pressing requirements first, like your IELTS test. This is where a lot of people fail to clear the hurdle.

I've spent all my working life working for mines and OnG companies, the attitude here is that they're sooner hire a guy with no degree but can speak like a local rather than a top of the line graduate with a perfect CGPA for most non-grad roles.

Plus mechatronics engineering's ANZSCO code is not included in the list of occupations allowed to migrate to Australia (the SOL list) due to its listing under "other engineering professionals" http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@.nsf/Pr...g+Professionals.

Agreed, biggest hurdle is to get through IELTS with flying colors, then the next phase of the process can start.

Have you graduated? It's good to start searching for a job before considering masters, where you may deemed overqualified by some employers. All the best, do also consider WA as that state has more job opportunities for engineers.

Which part of Australia are you in?
Mind to describe what is it like working in the construction industry there?
