Hokkaido at Gardens is my favourite so far. We enjoy the beef ramen, salad and sashimi set. It will come to RM30-RM50 per pax. Previously i used to go Sushi Zanmai, but the queue is scary.

In fact Rakuzen, Sushi Zanmai, Pasta Zanmai, Hokkaido belong to the same group. We can always find similar dishes among them.

Ya, Ishin at old klang road is one of the best japanese food.
But i more prefer Kin Shui Tei at Tropicana golf club.
For me Kin Shui Tei portion is bigger and cheaper compare with Ishin. But the food quality is as good as Ishin (or more and less).

Finally tried Tokusan Toroniko Shio Ramen...The soup is nice, but the meat is full of vein and fat  doh.gif

Overall, Marutama Ramen @Fahrenheit88 is much better !!!

blink.gif are you sure?? pork cheek is not meant to be fat and full of vein?? it suppose to be tender and lean

Crap! someone is cutting cost by using inferior material! mad.gif
went to Sushi Tei in Suria KK last week, loved their Avocado salad and cheap Maki
but this time they replace the premium crab stick in the salad with the cheapo stick that you can find from any frozen food store doh.gif
but luckily their Tekka Maki is still priced at RM6, at Kappa Maki at RM2, also softshell crab maki at RM6 thumbup.gif
They are the only jap restaurant that serve cheap tekka maki and yet still generous in the tuna provided in the roll. wink.gif

Their California Roll is quite unique compare to all Japanese Buffet I had so far. The uniqueness is the seaweed wrap is wrapped in a plastic separate from the rice. This is to ensure the rice does not make the seaweed become stale. So you need to use your "talent" to take off the plastic and wrap the rice back with the seaweed. Not that easy as you think., I can assure you.

Haha...a failure end product. However, the California Roll has remained its freshness.

Ambiance: 3/5
Service: 3/5
Taste: 3/5
Price: 5/5
Food Serving Speed: Slow
Recommended?: Yes
Extra Comments: This place is pretty crowded. It is advised to book earlier and avoid walk-in at all cost. You just have to admit this is the only cheapest with good food Japanese Buffet Restaurant available in Singapore. Please do not try to convert back to Malaysia Ringgit. Of course, you can get a better Japanese Buffet if you dine in Malaysia after conversion.

Actually their menu is very simple and most of them are already displayed here.

Miso Char Siu Ramen @RM27.50++
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 5/5
Taste: 5/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 4/5 - The noodles are so tangy and the Char Siu is so delicious. I am very particular with fat meat. But somehow I can ignore this. As for the soup..it is quite salty if to compare with Shoyu Ramen. The price is very expensive for a small bowl like this.

Shoyu Ramen @RM22.50++
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 5/5
Taste: 5/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 4/5 - Same Ramen same Char Siu like Miso Char Siu Ramen so the quality is the same. The difference is just the soup is much more tastier and the price is cheaper.

Ambiance: 4/5
Service: 4/5
Food Serving Speed: Very Fast
Recommended?: Yes.
Extra Comments:

If you wish to ask me which one is better between Marutama Ramen and Hokkaido Ramen Santouka, all I will say is different degree and level. So I will basically brief out all their strengths and for you to decide, okay?

Noodle: Santouka and Marutama
Char Siu: Santouka
Soup: Santouka
Price: Marutama
Egg: Marutama (Santouka does not have egg anyway)

So all I will say if you like to have an egg in your Ramen, choose Marutama. Otherwise, just go ahead for Santouka.

Ishin by Chef Q is bit stingy on his portion of Sashimi. Yes, fresh but pricey indeed.

As for KinShuiTei, the Tropicana Club didn't want to contract with them any further after many years of business. Maybe they prefer new face, new name? And the Japanese head chef had transfer to Nagomi Shabu-Shabu at Menara Hap Seng and sometimes he'll visit the Jaya33 branch on weekends. My family and i been following him after the closure of KinShuiTei. Generous japanese chef, i must say, only when he's around thumbup.gif

I have tried out at the Japanese Western fusion outlet call Cafe Takahashi at Pavillion which is few doors from Santouka.

They make Western food using Japanese ingredients for example is Unagi Pizza, Tamago Banana Pizza, Unagi Tofu Pasta and so on.

As i was alone, I unable to try out much of the food and i was kinda full that day. There is too many 'weird' choices but i ended up opt for Chicken Chop with Wasabi Mayo.

The dessert menu .. but i too full to try any of it sweat.gif

The next round i will go try out Unagi Pasta!

Oh really? Thanks for tipping me up. Honestly I was rushing for a movie that day which is screening in another 20 mins +-. Amazingly this restaurant served faster than I cook my maggi cup noodles which I able to make it for the movie with a 2 minutes to wait. Awesome! rclxms.gif

here here i show you tongue.gif

I would say their Komi Tamago very deeply flavored. The yolk melts in the mouth leaving a trail of egg taste in your mouth to your throat. The egg with is soft and melts too. Cut right in the middle as you open it... mai mai drool.gif drool.gif

This round, I ordered Kara-Miso Ramen with Grilled Salmon & Salmon Roe set small. Cost RM40 + 10% service charge.

Though it is said to be spicy, i don't find it spicy. NOT AT ALL. Well a good try at least, just a little tingle bit of spicy which i think most malaysian will think it's just a reddish looking soup which tasted like miso with chili oil and chili flakes laugh.gif .. This time as it's just the normal Cha-Shu, the meat is hoarse a bit not as tender as Toroniku. The Cha-Shu is made from hard frozen pork and not fresh pork as there is that 'frozen' taste to it. Toroniku tasted more fresh.

As usual the noodle is chewy!! Loving it a lot. Grilled Salmon is a very salty to my dislike sad.gif .

Man i fall in love with their Chawanmushi!! The egg custard is really soft smoth silky melting with strong eggy taste ending with a trail hint of vinegar. I can't really put what taste it is but it taste sourish vinegar fragrance in it. Inside the chawanmushi got 3 thin slice of Matsutake Mushroom, 20cent size prawn and 1 cube of chicken.

Nice sharing!!! Sometimes when people saw a just a noodle already cost them more than RM50, they prefer a buffet instead. Well, I have to say the food you eat worth every penny you spent.

Sometimes, good things is meant for it price. Specialty shop have their own special in preparing what they serve to the table. Buffet is too vast that somethings is good while some are not.

A bit off topic I suppose but if you're ever in Changi Airport for like ... long transit, or you're there early waiting for your flight, head over to T1 to eat at Saboten. It's awesome, can almost rival the tonkatsu I had in Tokyo. Of course the downside is ... the restaurant doesn't serve anything else.
