Agree with weijie..98w and 1bps is too low for 4ft

U will never regret adding more co2 (if still within optimum level, co2 indicator will tell u this) ...lack of co2 might invite algae with dosing of liquid fert..bcoz plant hav nothing to react with

smile.gif

more light means more co2 right? i stil have one more tube 38w not on yet. if on mean total = 136w
if 136w to 2bps stil ok?

yupe, more light = more co2

dun increase ur light first, try increase ur co2 and monitor ur plant growth smile.gif if u are ready for more plant growth, then u can increase ur light after that, just my personal opinion

thanks for the link! so if based on ADA, the substrate layer should be lowest>>powersand, next>>aqua soil, highest>>cosmetic sand???
*
Dont put cosmetic sand on top of your aqua soil, otherwise your waste your aquasoil...
powersand is not a must....u can replace it with like others said lava rocks
Yup Book of ADA is a good book, it shown some how to guidance eventhough is a ADA catalogue
it might be better also you get the book b4 u get ur soil biggrin.gif

2bps consider to low unless you let it run 24hrs(but it wasted since at night no co2 utilization)
plus if u r using glass diffuser, the diffusion level maybe a bit lower compare to inline
try to increase it to 3-4bps and add more lights, but aware with ur photo period

sometimes algae is good, dont worry about it...its a learning process

Words from Cliff Hui
Algae
My spy, it tells me the condition of the tank.
You care when you start, you don’t care when are experienced, and you started to care again when you are lazy

Hi KG,

Im not sure the last plant is from me, seems like one type of Ludwigia maybe Rapens

Dont worry the plant is not green enough, the rotala(1st pic), cos it not suppose to be green  biggrin.gif
i think u lack of iron or lights, not sure about Depont content with, plus try to dosage ferts on daily basis instead of 1 shot....and WC also good for remove exceed nutriens in your tank.

the rotala u just trim as low as you can and replant it trimmed stem as dense as u can

the Pogostemon sp Babien Laos(2nd pic) u can cut them anywhere  you wan and replant it by removing the lower leaves then plug it into ur soil. same goes to ludwigia

once you get the dense plant, then you can start shape your scape for the stem plant
you can refer here
http://www.adana.co.jp/en/sc/news/detail/196
see how they plant the plant.... rclxms.gif

hope this might be helpful  biggrin.gif

do you all have better way to solve blue green algae issue??

i tried adi blackout, but they come back..sad.gif

thanks in advance yo smile.gif

Blue green algae is actually not algae... Its a type of bacteria, suck out as much as you can. Or if you want drastic measure, get the gold fish powder, mix with some water and syringe it at the blue green algae.

as per radver, BGA is type of bacteria.. another way to kill it -> BGA remover (which is a type of antibiotic) for marine... but this will kill some of ur beneficial bac in ur filter smile.gif

if RM80 this size with the substrate and light is quite worth it, livestock can choose , prepare another 100 for it (plants + fishes). most pet store sells neon tetra from rm1 to rm1.5, cardinal u have to go to some bigger shop to get, i am not familiar with KL, but in cheras i can suggest some place to you.  thumbup.gif
*
Actually it's RM80 for the aquarium, light, filter, sand and plant(nt sure which type)

Currently looking at cardinal tetra as it's nicer because of the longer glowing strip.

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2055837&hl=

This seller quoted me RM3.50 per cadinal tetra hmm.gif Pricey?

kinda standard price.. rm3.5 for cardinal..

pls cycle ur tank properly first b4 buying fish, cardinal tetra can be very fragile as all of them are wild caught and ship around the world..unlike neon

also u need to acclimate them slowly when adding them to tank

correct me if i am wrong bout the wild caught part biggrin.gif

Cycle the tank?

Btw, last time when I reared fish when I was small. I used to have plants living in the small aquarium where my small fish was eating on the roots.

Maybe something like this? http://www.tropica.com/images/uploads/Akvarel/024.jpg

I remembered I didn't have to feed the fish at all, for like months? Because the fish would eat off the roots. Any idea what is it and is it recommended? tongue.gif
