Well, it all depends on how you use it and how well you take care of your phone. For example, I was previously on the iPhone 2G for almost 4 years, before I finally switched here to the SGS2. So I know I am capable of taking care of my phone. Also, I will be using my SGS2 as a wifi hotspot quite frequently, so data becomes quite important to me.

That's why I took the 2 year rm68 plan, because it's the best fit for me. YMMV biggrin.gif
*
for me... the reason for suggesting 12mths is... at least after 12mths... if the network becomes congested, etc... then at least can move on to another telco.

also, maybe family member needs a new phone, etc... once contract is up... can sign up for another one. smile.gif

hello all, i would like to ask...what is the correct way to charge the sgs2's battery? should i finish the battery until its left +-5% then charge it or i can charge it anytime i want? for eg. when 70% left..i charge the phone?
*
i charge it whenever possible. just like how my notebook is always on direct power unless i'm not at my desk or i'm on the move.

over the weekend, helped my brother get a htc incredible s.

unfortunately, even after 2 weeks of poisoning him with sgs2, he still said he wanted to get IS. even after i told him that price difference (phone plan with Digi) is only like rm400-500 but the difference between the hardware specs if huge (dual core vs single core, 1GB RAM vs 16GB, super amoled +, etc), he was still adamant on HTC IS.

he says he's got no confidence in Samsung... could be that our house Samsung LCD TV died slightly after 12mths (even before finished paying for the MBF installment).

but he's happy with the phone... so, ok la... for me... well, at least he's on android. smile.gif

Hi guys, between Viber and Tango, which one is better?
*
personally, i prefer viber... reasons for this:
* official rep for viber available on lowyat forum -- he's accepting feedbacks, complaints, etc. smile.gif
* its got lots of plans in the next few months -- multimedia support, video calls, version for BB (that means they would cover the 3 main OS -- WP7 version also supposedly in the works)

when i got home last night, my phone had only about 8% battery left.

plugged it into the power to let it charge. at the same time, i decided to also play Star Legends. At that time, i was on 3G connection. In just about 5 mins... I could feel the phone getting quite hot. Then a low level battery warning came on.

Checked the phone battery stats... It's dropped to 5%. Temperature was at 51C.

I guess the charging was not enough to sustain the use.

So, if anyone needs to try and bump up the temp to 51C, this is one way.

Anyway, decided to stop playing and exit the game. phone was still quite hot even 5mins later. so, just decided to shut down the phone, unplug the power, plug back in... ya, temperature after that was at about 40C.

Morning! One question; Do you realised that Messager (FB) is missing? I can't find it on Verion, T-Mo and even local market. Weird!

Next time just manually disable data network. Headache disappear. Enable data network only when you need it :-)

Ummm...do you know what applications are running at the back ground? And what application are you using to determine that your phone has used 100 mb?

Yeah, you're right. Still waiting for original Samsung SGSII 1950MAh battery coming to market :-(

~~@ yong88

No need to wait until 5% left. Once a month maybe okay to wait until nearly finish. Otherwise just top up it as you like :-)
*
Will the 1950mAh actually come? Coz I eyeing on the MUGEN 1700mAh.

3g watchdog lists my usage. Can't find out what is running in the background because I don't know when it happens.

Noboby can answer your question unless you list the apps you have. Some apps auto refresh/update data by default unless you disable it. Common ones are newsfeed, tweeters, RSS, weather, currency, games etc. You need to check each of your app and disable such auto updates

Check your running apps. You can more or less guess what is using the data. My best guess is that an app (or several) you have is syncing itself very often. You may consider disabling sync for each individual apps or uninstalling them one by one to see what is actually causing the problem.

I'm afraid there's no apps to monitor each apps data usage as far as I know.

I need two batteries for my phone, is there a external charging station for the S2 battery so that I can use one while charging the 2nd in a charging decking station (something like that)?

Did you update your 3G watchdog to the latest version. Older version got a bug.!!
Maybe you can use Traffic Monitor app to monitor all apps that been using your data network. Anything that is unnecessary then you can disable it.
Just saying

Actually there is an app to monitor each apps data usage. It called Traffic Monitor though i didn't use it as it use quite some juice and somemore my data reading is already accurate., so far :-)

I've decided to give this one more try. 1.26am, 79% battery with 3G/HSDPA enabled and Juice Defender disabled. Let's see what happens in the morning.

Arrivederci, LYNers.
*
Woke up to 60% battery. That's about 7hrs 30mins consuming 19% battery which is about 2.5% an hour. Which is not too shabby. But I've had no connection at all for the past 1 hour or so to Digi. Had to restart the phone before I managed to connect to the network again hmm.gif

QUOTE(madlocke @ Aug 29 2011, 12:51 AM)
maybe time to invest some time to check your processes and wakelocks...

even when i'm on stock kf1, my overnite drain was only 1% per hr with wifi (auto-wifi-on from 9pm to 9am daily)..

or can borrow/buy another batt to test..  blush.gif
*
That's exactly what I did. According to Watchdog Lite, there was nothing waking the phone up other than what I requested, and no rogue processes either. Still, 2.5% per hour last night ain't too bad compared to what I've been getting recently. Perhaps the charge cycle will continue to improve? *fingers crossed*

I have often received PM asking me which are the best custom roms. There is actually NO best rom as everyone needs on the phone is different. As I can see in this forum, the emphasis seems more on battery life. Some will want performance and battery life is not so critical. Some wants better gaming ; some wants better speedier browsing, some wants the best of everything ( to such users - just dream on )

However I can say the following are reasonably good : You will feel comfortable and safe using these. This recommendation is more for new users who do not know where to start
First time flashing, I always recommend Litening 4.0 and BELOW as it is EASY to flash with minimal problems - with rooting, CWM, non-wipe :

Modaco GR5 ( LEAN , don't change its kernel)
Speedmod Vanilla 0.21 ( LEAN, LEAN, LEAN )
Cognition 1.5
Bastita 3.73

You can flash safely alternative kernels to assess with these roms : ninphetamine 2.13, ragemod, speedfrey

Why did you had no connection at all with DiGi.? Surely you have atleast your 2G connection.
BTW, you still using juice defender?
