Did she also mention that "RM50 bonus is limited and first-come-first-served" ?
I'm afraid the bonus has long been finished already.

Citibank and SCB are still reluctant to publish the condition of annual fee waiver. Chicken.
Wasting cardmembers' time and $$ to call CS. D*mn.

As long as SCB/Citibank waive it, I don't mind calling them once a year.

If it happens that the bank refuses to waive AF, you have to redeem all the points before cancel the card, so hassle.

let's say the request for waiver is not granted and we decide to cancel the card. Do we still need to pay the AF?

the AF is an upfront fee for next year usage.
That means, if you do not want to use the card anymore, you are not obliged to pay AF.

Safe to say there are better cards out there should you really want to hold a CC. Why dont you list down your requirements in the pinned card recommendation thread and some sifu will advise accordingly smile.gif

Make sure you do not have outstanding balance after the anniversary date. For me, I would clear off my points and stop using the card one month before the anniversary date so that if I want to cancel the card, it can be done on the spot.

What about GST? It is charge upfront too. Can we do the same i.e. call after chage and if can't get waive then cancel it without paying it?

I just got my AMEX Gold Charged Card statement and they imposed GST. So called CS and told them that I cancelled it 2 months back but their system did not show. Anyway, the CS said will cancel the card again and reverse the GST charges.
