wah, like that ah, suddenly comes a card that require RM50k spending to get AF waiver  ohmy.gif

You will receive 10,000 TPs unpon card activation, which can be used to redeem the RM50 service tax. If you do not need the card, you can call MBB to cancel the card right away since it is only a pre-approved card.

Wow! The 5th to 12th numbers really nice. Never seen a card where 5th to 8th numbers are 0000. Surface looks like matt type from the pic.

Thanks Bro.

I was talking about annual fee, not service tax.

I thought I was the only one who thought of that. LOL. Yes me too, I've never seen a card whose 5th to 8th numbers are 0000.

As for the 9th to 12th numbers '3000' is a norm for the first batch of a premium card issued by maybank followed by '3001' then '3002' and so on. If you see any Maybank premium card with '2000' as the 9th to 12th numbers, the cardholder is a Maybank staff. My Maybank WMC also has '3000' as the 9th to 12th numbers.

When Maybank first launched the generic Visa Platinum card back in 2001, the first series started with '3000' too smile.gif

I had this a few years ago when CIMB Islamic sent me a pre approved mastercard platinum which I have already cancelled.

"5213 9500 0000 xxxx"

CIMB's practice is to start off a new card type with "0000" for 9th to 12th numbers. This is evident in most of their card offerings. I have seen this myself in the case of CIMB Enrich WMC, WMC, VI and even Enrich Platinum.

yah, 9th to 12th digits with 0000 quite common for the first 9999 people issued with a particular card. My UOB Plat has it and I have posted in in one of my many photos in my blog. My CIMB WMC & VI 0001.

More info for MBB VI holders:

-The free 10k TP will be effective only after the first swipe
-Transfer of TP to this VI cannot be done directly from other cards like MBB2 due to the lower air miles conversion rate. CS said MBB will adjust the rate accordingly if one insist to transfer the TP
-Priority pass (for those not given the form in the welcome package) & Starwood card membership will send to you automatically after 2 weeks

CC noob here as I only carry one CC (MBB Visa Silver) and never been interested in other CCs. By next month I'll probably zero out my MBB balance also.

Last week got a call from HSBC saying I got a pre-approved Platinum-i card. Anyone know if this is worth keeping (rebates, etc) cause if not, when I get it I'll call HSBC straight to cancel it.

I think the card should be MPower Platinum card. It's basically a rebate card. 6% rebates on petrol and groceries.

This card having greater rebates compare to MBB Visa silver. Cancel the silver card and take the Mpower since it is pre-approved smile.gif

HSBC MPower standard cash back 0.5% almost equivalent to MBB Classic returns. Good thing about HSBC cards, swipe 12 times annual fee auto waived. And not mistaken 1st year GST can be waived with certain number of swipes BUT 2nd year onwards don't hope for HSBC cards.

As for the 6% cash back petrol, yah better than MBB Classic where one get nothing for pumping petrol. However there are terms and conditions attached to qualify for the 6% cash back.

Lord_Ashe, suggest you read my article on HSBC MPower by clicking here. Seriously, call up MBB CS and ask that your classic card be converted to Maybank 2 Gold Cards where the AMEX is good where you can earn 5X TP and 5% cash back on weekends and the Visa or MasterCard even earns you Treats Points at Petrol Stations whereas your Classic MBB does not.

Converted it from MBB WMC (coincidentally the card anniversary falls on next month, therefore perfect excuse) since early last week.
