question is.. can it be done?

you can consider to do BT from Hong Leong bank. For example, you apply 10K of BT...then HL will made payment of 10K to your saving/current account.

Putting aside the 0% BT by Public Bank and BSN, the next best deal is from Alliance Bank at 2% for 24 months.

0.5% x 6 = 3% for 6-month BT program (HLB)
But is the interest charged on the 1st month after BT is approved... then effectively higher than 3%

i had never knew that balance trnsfer can be done without credit card outstanding balance. what is the interest ? basically, the highest interest of balance transfer which acceptable to me is 3%, of course many banks now doing 0% for 6 months or 3% annually for 12 months.

some bank such as standard chrtered, which charge 6% is considered ridiculous.

no offense.. but i think u r the one who dunno the special 'benefit' of HLB BT.... i.e. HLB is the bank you can BT the cash out. no need outstanding balance.
if u don't believe, give HLB a call.

the trick is, once u got the HLB BT approved and received the $$. then fast fast transfer HLB BT to another bank, e.g. UOB 6months ,0%. With this method, u can save some interest. This is particular useful for those ppl who want Cash in short term.... and payback full amount when dued.

don't forget to keep some balance in the HLB... early settlement will get panalty of RM100.

By keeping some balance in HLB, it will incur interest, right ?

yeah, say .... you keep RM300 in the HLB BT account. The interest charged is very minimal. should be less than RM2 per month.

can. but you will end up kena panalty for early full settlement.

the detail i can't recall... but you must pay RM50 min. per month. To make the calculation easy, just keep RM50 x 6 in the account. the interest charge is really very minimun la..

don't take the risk (panalty RM100), unless you are very sure about it. Keeping RM300 in the account is very safe method.

UOB BT payment to Maybank was made via LOCAL PYMT,CHEQUE NO xxxxxx, not via IBG.
No wonder it's late one day compared to CIMB, HLB, OCBC

Not sure on this...since i've been reading that some of the cc holders get the offer by receiving phone call from CS....
so i just try luck by approaching them instead....let me receive another call from them tomorrow first....i'll update here again...

Updated on 11.06am 18 Feb

The officer named Mark called. Double confirmed with him that the BT 6mths I'm having is 0%.

Updated on 11.35am 18 Feb

Another officer called in to process this. Give me hear the T&C, re-verify the amt, the account #
Ta daa.. "BT will be completed in 5 working days. However we will expedite it for 3 working days."
Info gotten --> 5% min payment, u must settle the total BT in 6th mths.
--> the BT info will appear in Mar'12 statement
--> payment that you made will be clear by hierachy. Eg --> You deposit $ into your cc account, it will be clear in sequence as --> Finance Charges, Retail Charges, EPP then only BT

So i consider i already get this 0% 6 mths BT to CitiBank cc  icon_rolleyes.gif

Updated on 20 Feb

BT details being reflected in my e-statement....very efficient....
*
Agree very efficient indeed. After reading this promo over here, i called up citibank and asked about it.
Did everything over the phone there and there! Said that the transfer will be settle by next tues, except for Amex which will be 1-2days later because they need to issue cheque instead.

bTW, if you opt for 1 year, it is 0.99% for 12months smile.gif

Recently HLB have special BT promo which allow you to do BT to transfer to other bank credit card or saving account with 0.5% per month until you fully settle the BT amount instead of 6 months. Additional, there is no early settlement charges, you can fully settle it anytime but this promo going to expired by end of this month.
