i have one question. mine is 2.3.4 gingerbread. s5830dxkpd. can i root my device without any problem?

You can root even if your firmware is 2.3.4.5.6.7.8.9 Gingerbread s5830xxxkpdxxx. As long as you have a working firmware, you can root it. But you need to find out what how to root, because there is slight difference between froyo and gb.

Now im even more undecided whether shud update or nt

My battery usage.. Im not sure why the sudden drop keep happening to any custom gb based rom.. Is this normal?

Btw i already calibrate my battery..

If you can, try charge your battery in front of a very very cold area, such as in front of aircon. But make sure not lousy aircon.

already rooted my gb. really quick n easy. thanx.

wifi & 3G is the "sucker" always...

that the reasons i switch on wifi when required and enabled "use 2G networks only"...

if im not mistaken, i read somewhere here saying that they have more free internal memory after update to gingerbread, gingerbread got better internal memory management than froyo

Yup I'm aware that 3g and wifi will ate my battery A LOT..but a sudden drop most likely bcoz of my battery itself maybe damaged. Or the rom itself not showing accurate percentage.

I'm not sure actually, but I'm thinking to try the stock gingerbread after this. If still happen, I may have to revert back to stock froyo and see what the outcome.

I can't screen capture after update to kpd. You guys having this problem too. Screen capture using back and main button.

maybe u try to limit yourself dont use much wifi and 3G network if possible...

for my case if i can do very limited voice calls, messaging, switch off wifi all the time, use 2G only and no gamings...
my SGA battery life can up to 4 days...

Aiya... there is this function "delete old messages" in samsung. If you leave it 'ticked" as selected (I think by default), then it will automatically delete old sms. Now I want to retrieve my old sms, all gone.

4 days?? Wow..even my friends sgs2 cannot hold that long..

btw, currently my baseband version is XXKPH..correct me if im wrong, baseband version is everybody reffering as 'modem' right? So to get a better signal, I need to flash this right? If correct, which version did you use?

Actually, I feel that titanium backup is not the best. It could be better, if the backup is like an image back up on desktop. Then when I roll back, it is complete. I don't have to press and confirm one by one. It is also good to hv this function, but there are times when you just want to restore everything while on the go. Anyone using any good backup apps?

What do u mean confirm one by one? U can always batch restore your apps.. Titanium is the best other than Nandroid.. But Nandroid will restore the phone and ROM to previous state.. Its just backup in case anything happen when flashing..

OK, after putting back T.Backup apk back into the newly flashed rom, I install TB and then start restore. I chose batch restore, but after that, it starts asking "install" or "cancel" with each apk, one by one for all the apps that I have backup earlier.

Nandroid seems interesting. But "mybackup" is not... I do not recommend it.

Weird.. Never happen to me.. When i choose "restore missing apps with data" it will automatically restore all my apps with all data andsave games.. even when i restore my launcher, it will restore the previous state of my homescreen.. Nandroid is actually CWM backup.. It backup the ROM image.. It just an emergency backup in case something goes wrong when u flash new ROM.. There's also advance backup and restore.. But never use it...
