If i continue to use semi now, 5 years later after my free service end, i can switch to full ah?
*
u can, but switch to a thicker oil, let say u now using 0-30/0-40/5-40, after 3 or 4 years switch to 10-40/10-50,because the gap bigger , cant use oil that too thin like u first use with your new engine.

It depends. If your engine ok, and no makan minyak, you still can use back the same oil. btw, no difference between 0/40 to 10/40....only applies to cold start different....viscocity level is still the same....you should go from xW/40 -> xW/50 if makan minyak.

Right now, Proton gives 10w40 for the Synthium 800 for Inspira. But there is a 15w/50 Synthium 800 also. Previously, they were using this i think. but x/50 is too thick for a brand new car.

My plan is to go petronas and buy s3k, and use it for my inspira. Then bawa balik the s800 for my Wira. I just hope the oil doesn't leak out from the engine of my wira. The engine also 17 years old already, never overhaul before.

That way i get both free gifts thumbup.gif

Currently my wira drink petrol like water....can squeeze around 330km from a full tank..., around 9km/l

erm.. so my old car now used 20w50, so old engine should use x/50 thicker?
before the 0w / 10w/ 20w is cold start? what is the different??
If i bring to other service instead of proton SC, also ok right??

if you are worried, ask for the s800 with 15w50.....and not the xw40...

Actually you can watch out for those offers in hypermarkets for cheap oil. The last time managed to get Mobil 1 for rm140 at tesco. Even last weekend I asked a spare parts shop, shell helix ultra going for rm160 only, versus the rm200 plus they charge at service centers. Feels damn rip off.

already on 50, use back 50 lor. About the thickest oil for normal car...unless you use those racing/high performance car oil xw/60....but better not lar....
0w/10w/20w is a rating to indicate that the oil performs the same level of oil thickness during cold or hot. 0w is for the coldest, 10w less cold, 20w lagi less cold...somthing like that....for example 10W/40 will means the oil performs with a level of viscocity based on SAE40 ratings whether in hot or cold(10W).....W means winter, you can google for more info.

Basically, it's all in the -ve Celcius range. Malaysia don't have winter, so it don't matter to us. Our coldest probably in Genting...what...17C ?? Doesn't matter....won't reach negative anyway...unless 2012 coming, which you won't be worry about your car... tongue.gif

Please don't buy oil at outside workshop....there has been many cases of fake oil going on. Only buy from Petrol Stations or official SC. You don't want to kill your car by being cheapskate.

As for Tesco oil, i believe somebody discuss before, the ratings might be a bit different than similar local brands.
