QUOTE(runemastertan @ Jul 31 2011, 02:33 AM) SA today told me that the CVT for the City that I have is not as good as Lancer. I asked him twice how does it work for Lancer, but his answer is just that City's CVT is older version, while Lancer is a new better version. I wanna know how does the CVTin Lancer works. What is the different in both CVT that prompt him to say this No such thing not as good as lancer or whatever.Although honda city uses a CVT, it is very different compared to the ones in altis, lancer, and slyphy. the honda city's uses a clutch system where as the larger CVTs for medium sized cars uses a torque converter. one may argue that the torque converter ones are more reliable, but it comes at a cost, the torque converter has more power loss. Both are very different CVTs catered for different car sizes. Our CVT is much larger to cater the larger amount of torque it can handle. it shows in the CVTF requirement. lancer, altis, nissan uses 6 litres compared to the honda city's 3.5 litres of CVTF Dont worry, both CVTs, under proper hands, will be very reliable. it is the stupid honda SC that made this mess up for themselves when they put ATF in the city's CVT. Added on July 31, 2011, 8:44 am QUOTE(kcgboyz @ Jul 31 2011, 08:35 AM) Proton's CVT is from Punch automative and it uses a clutch system. This post has been edited by ckk125: Jul 31 2011, 08:44 AM |

QUOTE(SnoWFisH @ Jul 31 2011, 02:43 PM) i heard the general rule of thumb for break in is not more than 100kph, 2500 rpm. But the SA told me to drive like normal and don't worry about breaking in though. Just told me i must go and change my engine oil after 1000km. he insisted so many times that he called me to remind me 2-3 times after i collected my car 2500rpm can reach 130km/h wo.. |

QUOTE(runemastertan @ Jul 31 2011, 05:26 PM) Well, the SA said that in time, the belt grip in the CVT gearbox for City will loosen up, and will cause major problem for the car. The problem can be fixed by changing the CVT gearbox. not true.if properly maintained, it will last. The only problem is that honda sc put the wrong trans fluid |

QUOTE(XCInspire @ Aug 5 2011, 03:48 PM) Please note Saga FLX CVT is from Punch Powertrain, not Jatco as in Inspira. Please follow the service manual for that CVT unit. Technically it works the same pulley system but oil could be different. both different.. Saga FLX CVT is a clutch CVT, jatco's is a torque converter cvtAdded on August 5, 2011, 5:03 pm QUOTE(SnoWFisH @ Aug 5 2011, 04:12 PM) looks more like its not installed properly in its housing. Either that or the button punya gigi broke. The most efficient CVT still goes to altis' CVT. smoother and better power deliveryCare should be about the same, the most important part is to use the correct type of oil. Naturally both Jatco and Punch are forerunners for CVT right now, the questions is how much efficiency can they get from their CVT. Added on August 5, 2011, 5:04 pm QUOTE(Matrix @ Aug 5 2011, 04:53 PM) No. Proton did make the claims...improvement 4% city drive and 10% highway drive....read at Paultan i think. 10% is significant.400km + 10% = 440km This post has been edited by ckk125: Aug 5 2011, 05:04 PM |

QUOTE(Matrix @ Aug 6 2011, 09:01 PM) Speaking of battery, the battery on my Savvy died about 2 weeks ago, dunno what happenned. Then have to ask people come and jump start it, the mechanic say the battery no problem, just need to drive the car to charge it back....and the battery ngam ngam 1 year and 1 week old only..... somtimes it is like that..no explaination..haha...however, if new battery cannot tahan, then must always think about the alternator's condition. My original battery from Proton lasts 3 years....is it really a battery problem?? I'm scared it's a sign the battery is dying soon...the brand is 'CENTURY' and it's MF battery. The original Proton one also MF. Any good recommended battery brand? last time my waja's alternator kong and i didnt know, battery 10 months also kaput..luckily can get the warranty and changed my alternator...2 years later still going strong. Added on August 6, 2011, 9:31 pm QUOTE(zuladha @ Aug 6 2011, 08:17 PM) After change my absorber just now. got news like this. cannot tahan with ngek ngek sound. but berbaloi when change it. good connering & soft & also fair price. lowered, my hood now same level with kancil. i just emailed I(dont)Care, to confirm if the replacement parts are ready or not. This post has been edited by ckk125: Aug 6 2011, 09:31 PM |

QUOTE(sloth @ Aug 6 2011, 11:42 PM) Hi guys, 2) if u remove the chrome strip at the bottom of the boot lid, u'll leave a few holes there. same goes to the mini spoiler.a noob here - am collecting my white 2.0 next saturday (hopefully!). Appreciate some help on: 1) Tips what to look out for when collecting the car 2) Any gremlins so far? Haven't plan for any mod for now (dont want to go down that road like with my previous ride 1) de-chrome (darken) the front grille - does it looked nice doing so? 2) remove the chrome strip at the bottom of the boot lid - easy to do? Am thinking of asking the people at Sierra Glow to do it when I go for the body detailing later. 3) Sport rims - haven't think much about it tho. What's the suitable offset for 17 x 7.5JJ (dont want the tyres to tuck out of the fender - should be nicely flushed in) Thanks guys! |
