SA today told me that the CVT for the City that I have is not as good as Lancer. I asked him twice how does it work for Lancer, but his answer is just that City's CVT is older version, while Lancer is a new better version. I wanna know how does the CVTin Lancer works. What is the different in both CVT that prompt him to say this
*
The City IDSI has loads of gearbox problems, that's why Honda gave up and the new City no more IDSI.

Lancer/Inspira CVT gearbox is from Nissan. Nissan is the forerunner in CVT technology now and has been using CVT for queit sometime in most of their cars (in fact, all Nissan new cars have CVT option now).

So, in terms of CVT, Nissan >>>>> Honda. tongue.gif

Yes, I agree.... the HU shld not have such issue, and thus why XCInspire have gone to Clarion several times to find solution to this.... and yes, this is a chip and Clarion issue...

But then, some owners that have changed to other brands of HU have also similar problems.... maybe need more feedback from other owners who have changed to branded HU instead of those china based dual din lcd ones...
*
But old Clarions don't have this issues....like my Savvy original Clarion....i wonder why they can't just change back to the old chip?? hmm.gif

It's not 100% the HU problem, there are antenna wiring, connectors, CAN-BUS system, and the HU itself... its a combo of mismatched components, thus the problem....
*
Waa...just a stupid radio also so much problems...sigh...but i think some other cars also has the same issue....right now, i use the China LCD HU for my Savvy, i think the reception is not as clear as my original Savvy HU...but it don't have this soft-loud problem.

Why ur PRC LCD HU is not as clear and no soft/loud problem? Using old tech and cheaper tuner module lor.. makes sense doesn't it?

FYI, a lot of brands have moved their production or oem their products from PRC. Clarion retail units are also sourced from PRC. Only the OEM units which come with cars are manufactured in Penang. Yes, Clarion OEM manufacturing plant is in Penang, so pls dun laugh at the RM10 paper cone speaker, can anytime be better than PRC branded ones.

Unless you buy Alpine, Nakamichi or really high end HU, chances are the units are from PRC.
*
But my original Savvy unit also dun have this problem mah...tongue.gif...Anyway, it's not a big problem, radio is only used to listen to people tok cok in the Morning while driving...

Say anyone tried using their handphone to receive their FM radio and then transmit via Bluetooth audio?? Maybe this can work also?

Quite a few owners have installed, and their immediate reaction is the sound quality sucks.... so you need to consider your biggest wish from a HU... sound or fancy looks and gadgets...

For me, the SQ have to be good as I will be spending much time listening rather than GPS or watch movie (while driving...??)...
*
The RM 1.2k i have installed in my Savvy is actually pretty good. Can watch movies, DVDs...good for educational DVDs for my son...he learn Mandarin on the way to school. Sound actually pretty good. It plays DIVX and i have down sampled some HD MKV movies to DIVX format which it plays flawlessly. Interface response also pretty good...better than dumb windows mobile 6.5 phones with resistive touch screen of yesteryear!!! Could have bought one under 1K, but dun have the size fit for Savvy, so have to buy this slighlty more expensive version. It supposely can link to a GPS remote receiver..and supposely receive TV station also, but i never figure out how to do that coz the manual is hopeless.
Still, pretty satisfy with it...but a bit expensive, IMO. But branded ones even worst...around 3K...

Hopefully, it doesn't breaks down after 1 year...sweat.gif...

I'm lazy to explain why again if I want to avoid waterspots, it means I have to wipe dry my car EVERY morning due to my house location. My time is definitely worth more than that. I'll rather spend a couple of hundred a year to get it done up, than to waste 10-20 minutes EVERY morning drying my car. Just a matter of economics. Thanks for being willing to share though.
*
Yeah, if you ask me to wash EVERYDAY....die mang....now i wash most once a week, last week no time to wash, so becomes twice a week, must wash this weekend....somemore have to wash wax 2 cars...if take turn, die mang, every week also have to wash/wax car!!!!! But i got sheltered parking for 1 car, so not so bad....btw, just to share, i use Turtle quick wax every week, when i wash the car .. (except if i do major waxing)....pretty good. Can easily wash off stains and dirt after 1 or 2 weeks. Good for people like me who wants to wash own car, but not enough time....really hate sending my car to car wash...blardy bangla all do lousy job...worst scratch your car....

Nope, not that one. Mine is called something "Express Shine".

This one:

Not all in one lar....you wash the car first, then you wax it lor. According to instruction you can spray and wax it while your car still wet. But usually, i wash first, then wipe dry, then spray and wax. The wax is like water only, so easy to apply, no need to use lots of energy or leave swirl marks/smudges if not apply evenly enough.

I don't think wash and wax is very good lor...last time try before on old cars..but not turtle wax brand.

Oh... but the zip max is a cleaner right? So I use this zip to wash and clean first, then use this express shine to wax?

This express shine can tahan for how long? how often do I need to re-wax it?
*
The ZIP thing looks like wash&wax....you can just buy any wash only liquid...much cheaper. Tahan how long is depending on weather condition lor, the question is not how long it can looks shiny, but how long it can last for an easy wash and removal of stains and water marks....If u wash weekly, it's very easy, just spray water and you can see dirt flowing off from the rear already...i'll say washing every 2 weeks is not a problem. Just spray water, wipe a little bit with a microfibre cloth and it can be cleaned very easliy.

My routine is full wax (1 - 1.5 months), follow by quick wax(every week or 2 weeks). You don't have to follow mine, just try what think suits you.

im just afraid i screw up the waxing part. My friend last time did waxing DIY on his old white wira (mmmm it was...8 years ago), and his hood turned into milo colour the next morning. we were stumped what actually happened and went wrong.

So...Mitts for washing, sponges for drying and microfibre cloth for waxing ya  biggrin.gif
*
LOL. I can imagine you could have used some SCRATCH POLISH WAX which eats into the paint...those are for old cars with oxidized coat and you want to remove it with hard cleaning polishing material...this is new car, use use normal wax...when you buy wax, there's indication whether it's for old car or new car. Just buy those normal or for new cars will do.

Btw, don't use sponge lar...can scratch your car one....

I guess so, you know lah, we were students that time, he just bought a 2nd hand car ride and wanted to give it a nice shine...mana tau...ended driving a real milo car lol. In the end have to send it to workshop for respray.

Oooo...use microfibre cloth for drying? Wao i need to buy a lot of those cloth then.
*
Old cars can forget about shiny lar.(unless previous owners takes really good care and wax regularly)...even use what also not going to shine...haha. Must get new paint.

Actually, i just use normal cloths for drying...but it's no good, can leave small tiny cloth 'hair' on the car....but i guess after the wax, dried, you drive one round of the car, all the tiny bits fly off the car oready...haha...but yeah, i think need to get microfibre cloths (needs a lot) or at least better normal cloths....other sifu got suggestion what needed to dry the car??

I use microfibre to wash the car now, dry it with normal cloth first round (too much water), then 2nd round wipe dry with microfibre, then apply wax.

Say, anyone has done changing the full sized spare tyres to smaller one to reclaim some boot space? I understand Lancer's one is not a full sized tyre...actually, is it the rim not full sized so the tyre is smaller? If we change to this, how to lower the floor? Does the Lancer has foam to raise it up like Inspira (but maybe not so high)?

QUOTE(munky @ Aug 3 2011, 10:37 PM)
has anyone tested how far can we go once the low fuel warning came up?
*
I'll be BLUNT also. (learned from Poadster...hehe). Please don't do such stupid test. Not only it doesn't means anything ( how far can go depends where you're going....anywhere from less than 400km in city drive to 900km in highway fuel challenge. It all depends on the route you take. No two person's mileage are the same. Some crazy people even drive until their fuel tank empty just to test 'how far it can go', (and probably killing their catalytic converter or something). The fuel tank is 59litre. If you always pump in say 48 litre when the lights up, means there is still about 11 litre in the tank. What is there to know??

What you should analyze is the fuel consumption in city drive and highway drive in km/l. You don't have to drive till empty tank to know your car's fuel consumption. Just do the normal fill tank up, reset meter, drive x km, fill tank up and calculate...x km/litre pump in will be your FC.

If you know your fc= 9km/l in city drive, then you can drive another 99km with 11l, if your highway drive is 14 km/l, means you still can go 154km on the highway.

Anyway, there's a reason for the fuel empty lights. It tells you to fill in before it is empty. Just fill it in...why wait! In fact, it's a bad pratice to let your fuel gets low. Streess your pump or catalytic converter or something. So just pump in before the lights up!!

Am i bad luck?

I just took my car 2.0p  chasis 6xxx series yesterday morning.

Then happily test drive... about 70km....

Bad things happen to me... the ABS fault shown in my screen... It require service....

then another 20-30 mins driving... the engine light also shown in my screen. I quickly send back the car to the SC near by Jalan Ipoh.

Walao... they dont know what happening after 30 mins... they have no idea with those error light.. (That time i havent read the manual book yet because i just took the car in the morning!)

After that they asked me to Center of Execellence main branch to check! ok!... I must go lor.. no choice what...

What happen is when i am on the way to this USJ there, the hand brake light show on the screen! this is third light liao.... I starting to worry and the celcius showing at the bottom of "D" mode is 46..

Damn hot wor... is that normal?

Finally i reached to main branch at 4 pm. They said must let my car overnight there coz they close at 5pm.... I need to take cab back to my house... WTF >.<"

However i checked the manual book at night and found i m lucky while the car safely send to that Center of Execellent! It is quite dangerous while i quite speedy around 100-130kmh because the car look fine.

This is consider my first car because i bought it my self! I really panas hati and very disappointed with "P". I thought giving another chance to them as ppl complaining their QC problems, but my self kena gao gao...

This happen in day 1... how they can ensure it wont happen again such errors.....

However, i asked my SA installed the auto lock and gear lock only which is not affect those ABS, engine things...
*
Sorry to hear that. This is by far, the biggest Inspira lemon i heard....my chassis also 6xxx. No problem at all. What you should do now, i recommend:
1) Make official complain, WRITE IN, get a signed received acknowledgement copy.
2) If they can't fix it within a reasonable date, write in again.
3) If after third time still can't fix (or problem re-occurs after fixing), write in again to demand change to new car. Also write to newspaper like the star or Malay mail.
4) If they don't do anything even after that, complain to consumer tribunal court.

Document all your write in properly to shows that the problems since day 1 and attach also the service done by Proton SC for the rectification as proof. All these can be use to show your problem persist and since day 1. If you don't document and write in, YOU DON'T HAVE A CASE.

I hope you don't ends up like that guy at kiafortesucks.com

Good Luck. And pls update us.

Siao liao... Start worry again already....

haiz.... what i can say and do the best i did... wait that formen called and file a case if they can work up for me..

Filing a case with SC is not enough. YOU MUST WRITE IN. If you don't you'll regret later if the problems takes too long to fix or unfixable. Malaysia is like this, if you don't bring the case to the heads or medias or authority, nobody is going to entertain you. Know your rights. Like my case with MAXIS, call in to customer service is useless, complain to MCMC then only they get their arse moving. You must do your part if you want a solution. You can also e-mail directly to Dato Syed Zainal as supplementary to your official write in.
