@hellwaker, it is not impossible to have MacOSX running on AMD platform but it is hard. You can't use the stock kernel, Apple has released the Lion's kernel but you need to wait for someone to make this available to the masses. Probably the easiest is to have the OSX runs in vm environment. Lion can run on VM and the EULA allows this.

@hellwaker, it means that vmware couldn't boot Lion from your boot drive (usb/dvd/paritition). Did you follow the guide found on the net? If yes, which one?

@olivur, the most importing thing to get MacOSX to run on your hardware are the motherboard and graphics card. If you've the right one, installing MacOSX on your i7 desktop is just straight forward thing.

if it's not too much trouble, at the top of your head does my spec seem feasible :?
i7 920 asus pdtd deluxe asus eah4870 1gb
i did a quick search earlier on insanelymac and .. yeah, LOL :X
i've two mbps up to date (first gen unibody and '10 model) and i've to say, the only reason i'd need windows now are for the occasional mmo binges. which my '10 could handle but i do NOT like the way the fan makes a lift off sound when im running windows on it lol :X

@olivur, try the guide found using myhack at http://osx86.sojugarden.com/guide/ though I usually prefer the tonymac guide but you can always mix them. For my previous SL setup, I was using myhack + multibeast. For my current Lion setup, I was using Andy's p6p67 guide found at insanelymac + multibeast. Why I used multibeast? Well, almost everything needed to be done after initial setup contained in that utility. This post has been edited by wiraone: Aug 1 2011, 05:54 AM

thanks for the reply wiraone, i'll take a look at it soon ..once i figure out how to make a lion bootable disc. lol edit* this might be a no brainer, but since there are no physical discs for lion (afaik), if i were to get a snow leopard disc from the apple store would i get the lion upgrade for free ._o? because even if i make a bootable disc of lion using my mbp, the copy would be.. "affiliated" to my mbp, ...right? *froths* This post has been edited by olivur: Aug 1 2011, 06:59 AM

@olivur, according to Lion licensing, you're free to install on the machine that you can run the AppStore So, what most of us are doing is to buy the Lion off the AppStore on whatever Mac available, and before the upgrade, we copied the necessary file(s) as backup so we don't need to redownload. And no, buying SL will not give you a free upgrade to Lion.

Is it possible to fresh install Mac OS X Lion on a PC without a Mac? Because I don't know where to buy Lion other than Mac App Store.
