QUOTE(wiraone @ Jul 18 2011, 11:09 PM) RAM, get the best you could get with your money. The sames goes to the HD and the rest of the components. Check the hardware forum for suggestion on what the best that can give you bang for the buck. get the best you could get with your money.? You surely ask why I can't just list one that work .. well, because in my 2 hackintosh setups, I still couldn't get the best that work 100% as I want them to be. Others can chip in to guide you on the hardware selection. Best as in best-bang-for-the-buck or most expensive? Example, for ram I see many favors G Skill. Is there a reason for that? |

wiraone - I'm leaning toward Z68 mobo (Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3-B3) and GTX560 Nvidia but I see Apple is not friendly toward nvidia.

wiraone - Thanks. Ya that's my biggest fear - being the pioneer for the unknown mobo. My hope is with the arrival of Lion, we will see better success rate.
All else fail this is my other option GA-P67A-UD3-B3 & ATI 5870. |

QUOTE(wiraone @ Jul 19 2011, 11:24 PM) @Darknite, my other setup is using GA-P67A-UD3-B3 with latest firmware, i5/2400 and it works great really. Sleep, speedstep etc. working .. it has GTS430 GPU. If everything is running 100% including USB3.0, then this is Great!I thought by getting a Z mobo I can optimize the SSD usage, is that correct or stick with P67A-UD3? |

QUOTE(toiletduck @ Jul 25 2011, 01:21 AM) hi wiraone, i am planning to build a fresh system with the following spec: Last time wiraone says research and buy similar KNOWN built. I see Gordo74's using same mobo as yours and he explain in detail TO GO TO LION: Follow this guide. I helped in putting it together and it is step by step like this one. Just like a real Mac, you must be on 10.6.8 to go to Lion.» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « does it support the latest lion? sorry to ask about this as I'm totally new in hackintosh, been research in OSX86 & Tony Mac yet couldn't figure out the setup... |

QUOTE(Bad Cyborg @ May 23 2012, 10:43 PM) I'm using the ITX I quoted you as my main rig. It never once made me feel unsafe. If a hackMac makes you feel unsafe, you're doing it wrong. I'm thoroughly satisfied with my rig. But for traveling concern, I recently thought of buying a Mac Mini. I previously had MacBook Air in mind, but 3K is too much money for me right now. Also, I don't like that Intel HD 3000. So I looked into Mac Mini. I thought 1899 wasn't a bad price. But then I discovered the CPU is dual core only. And even worse, the dual core is soldered on. And worse still, the hard disk is 2.5". And there's no USB 3.0. So there you have it. If you want to buy an Apple just for the sake of looking good, then get a Mac. Safety wise, stability has never been a question, at least not on my ITX rig. Your mileage may vary. What is your exact spec and which flavor OS are your running? |
