QUOTE(wiraone @ Jul 18 2011, 11:09 PM) @shiwamoto, I can't give you component by component list, you can do the homework yourself. Here is the list of the latest Gigabyte motherboards that have DSDT ready from tonymac: http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2011/06/dsd...yte-socket.htmlAnd here is what GPU that you can use. http://www.tonymacx86.com/wiki/index.php/G...s_Card_DatabaseOptical disk, search for LG ones as per the following: http://www.tonymacx86.com/wiki/index.php/O..._Drive_DatabaseDo remember, if you bought the sandy beach processors with 'K', you need to at least get the P67 board .. or Z68, otherwise, you'll just waste your money. The non-'K' version, H61 or H67 should be okay. RAM, get the best you could get with your money. The sames goes to the HD and the rest of the components. Check the hardware forum for suggestion on what the best that can give you bang for the buck. You surely ask why I can't just list one that work .. well, because in my 2 hackintosh setups, I still couldn't get the best that work 100% as I want them to be. Others can chip in to guide you on the hardware selection. Thanks sifu Wiraone..

Running OS X Lion here.
Specs: i3 530 MSI H55M-E33 Corsair DDR3 1333mhz (2x4gb) Sapphire 5770 Vapor
What I did: Edited and fixed DSDT myself Use Voodoohda 2.7.2 Use Lnx2mac Realtek kext Use 10.6.2 USB kext (if i'm not mistaken)
And thats all, no problem since 10.6.4 until Lion now. Chameleon and kexts(kextcache) in separate partition so that SL/Lion is always vanilla installation.

I succesfully ran OSX Snow leopard 10.6.7 via VMware. Since it's a 2nd gen. laptop, not much that I can do to run it as my main. I'll take this opportunity to explore the OS then. Any advise on vmware optimum settings? I got quite frustrated when starting it as it says guest not supported but got fixed just by a single line of code in the .vmx

wiraone - I'm leaning toward Z68 mobo (Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3-B3) and GTX560 Nvidia but I see Apple is not friendly toward nvidia.

darknite..i think ur statement is partially wrong.. the essential of success of using hackintosh is using nvidia graphic..as for myself, nvidia gc is really important..if im using ati gc, its quite a problematic for me.. so, i rather choose nvidia gpu instead of ati gpu.. this situation may only apply for me alone..hehe..for others i dont really know..

@Darknite, before buying, check if there is anyone successfully running the OSX on that motherboard. Even if the DSDT is available, you might run into different problem, so, better be careful before putting your hard earned money but found that your setup won't run as it should. Had this problem before when I bought an ASUS P8P67-LE, it won't shutdown properly, it woken up few seconds after, so bought a Gigabyte MB which works fine. The same goes for GPU too, though I believe NVidia do from time to time, produces it own drivers for Mac since some of the card ended up in MacPro as 3rd party card installed by the endusers themselves.
@Chyan, sorry, I don't have any experience running OSX on vmware, no idea if there is anyone here has done so.

wiraone - Thanks. Ya that's my biggest fear - being the pioneer for the unknown mobo. My hope is with the arrival of Lion, we will see better success rate. All else fail this is my other option GA-P67A-UD3-B3 & ATI 5870.

If everything is running 100% including USB3.0, then this is Great! I thought by getting a Z mobo I can optimize the SSD usage, is that correct or stick with P67A-UD3?

@Darknite, I've no idea about USB3, I don't have any USB3 devices, so I couldn't test this out. On Z with SSD, it only work for Win7 .. doesn't work for MacOSX. I don't know if there is a workaround..

Since Lion is officially out now .. I'm going to give an update on how it goes on my current setup. Currently downloading it off the appstore and hopefully will be done by the time I wake up tomorrow morning.. and hopefully it will take at most 30 minutes to do a fresh installation (not fancy doing an upgrade on every major OS releases).

@shiwamoto, problem is, we're pretty much limited with what Apple uses for its hardware. Have you checked the list that I posted before? At least the 6XXX series are easily available in the market.

Dear Sifu wiraone, I did refer to your list, where 68XX series was out of my budget, mean while 57XX, 58XX series no more available from most of the shop out there (lowyat).. So sad.

Nice graphic card, Works with GraphicsEnabler=Y or do you need any other kext/dsdt edits? Finally Lion is here. Manage to do a clean install via USB disk. Everything seems to work fine just that have to install Lnx2Mac Realtek RTL81xx Driver to get network to work. Used the same DSDT and kexts from my 10.6.8 build. Works great, now to migrate profile, apps, and settings from time machine backup.
