sifus... need some assistance. i'm gonna join the dslr bandwagon this week & have roughly made-up my mind & will be getting d5100.. made my decision due to the quality of the pics (more vivid compared to 550d). the only thing i am still not very clear now is the absence of the af motor for nikon body. what will i be missing? the standard kit provided (AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR) has built-in autofocus motor, right? (silent wave motor). does this put this baby no less better than 550d's autofocus system?

Nope, you don't loose anything with the kit lens 18-55. What you lose is D5100 is unable to auto focus with an old lens such as the 50mm f/1.8D (the nifty fifty). However, you can buy the newer 50mm which has SWM in it, D5100 no issue to auto focus with that lens.
