Caution, I know
I prefer answers like these rather than useless replies like "your board doesn't support overclocking". If I don't have much choice in overclocking, I will look at upgrading just the CPU to Phenom II x2. I don't need multiple cores, but I want the single-threaded application I'm running to have the highest speed possible. The next step is upgrading the board, but let's see what I can do for now. |

I don't need multiple cores, but I want the single-threaded application I'm running to have the highest speed possible. The next step is upgrading the board, but let's see what I can do for now. the board have limited option in overclocking, means not overclocking friendly. Phenom II X2 black edition with unlocked cpu multiplier probably a suitable cpu for you now. just use cpu multiplier to overclock and play with cpu voltage. but check the mainboard cpu support list before you upgrade. |

QUOTE(dafreak @ Jan 1 2012, 10:59 PM) I managed to increase core speed to 226Mhz, with the following:- 533, it failed on post - 400, posted but Windows7 blue-screened - 400, increased core voltage to 1.4, booted fine, but benchmarked on SuperPI slower. Thanks for your help, any other ideas you have just let me now. |

QUOTE(ah_khoo @ Jan 1 2012, 11:59 PM) lower this > Memory Clock - DDR 667 Before dafreak told me about the ctrl-f1, I can't even see the Memory Clock option.have a look here so u'll have some idea bout how cpu multipliers can affect ddr2 frequencies on am2. Now that I can see it and lower it and at the same time managed to increase the base frequencywith CPU-Z and Easytune5 showing the increases, Unfortunately my benchmarks are running slower. This includes Super-PI, and the software that I'm running which is really the reason for this exercise. I'll keep experimenting and see what I can find, now that I have a few more options to play with |

I'd say to me i'd go for ASUS M5A99X Evo because it has a 6+2 phase configuration, IIANM Asrock 990FX only uses 4+1 phase... More phase is better for oc... just my 2 cents ah...
