it's not always about the money mang. when i was searching for a place i thought quite long about renting a whole unit vs renting a room, in the end based on my privacy preferences, and since i can afford, so i rather spend extra to get an entire unit than to have to share with strangers.

Hi guys, I will be renting a room in Aug 2011 and now wanna ask about internet subcription in SG.

Since my landlord did not have a fixed tel line, so mobile broadband is the only option for me.

Wanna ask which telco is the best for me based on you guys usage experience. BTW, i am a heavy broadband user.

1) Singtel (50GB data at $59.90 per mth)
2) M1 (Unlimited data at $59.40 per mth)
3) Starhub (Unlimited data at $70.40 per mth)

I tot of subscribe to M1 for this instance, any opinion from you guys?

wow... all > SGD$50. quite heavy plan. What kinda speed are we talking about ? I think Singtel have the best coverage. If you plan to use P2P then give M1 a pass coz understand they block that. If your data usage is <12gb per month, can consider teether from your phone plan, etc iPhone plan.

Guys and Gals, what's the requirement for opening an account @ OCBC ?
The reason stated don't sounds right. Usually MOM will tell which criteria that doesn't meet..... Have you try applying other company at the same time?
*
Nope. I didnt apply other company at the same time.
first application 11/7 - rejected
first appeal 18/7 - however, till now, the MOM website status still remain at 11/7 reject status. no update on the 18/7
meaning the application date is still put there 11/7,
how come the HR personnel can tell me that the appeal is rejected?
Bcz MOM send another email to them? Or how?
I thought I should be able to see the status update in MOM website myself too at the same time, even for appeal right?
rclxub.gif
I still wonder why the HR personnel said appeal rejected while i cant see the application status update of 18/7 on the MOM website.

i dont think MOM reveals the reason, am i wrong?  hmm.gif

correct  rclxms.gif , and whether HDB allows it...
*
really?
MOM dont reveal the reason even to the employer?
cz the hr personnel emailed me and in email she told me that
"The appeal for your training employment pass is rejected.
The reason – The prospective employee does not meet their criteria for approval."

I'm not too sure now but I CAN'T torrent with M1 mobile broadband a couple of years back but I sticked with it coz they were offering a once in a lifetime plan (2mbps unlimited data 50% off @ $19.95 per month) and I only use it outdoor with my macbook. I terminate it after 2 years because once the 2 years is up they reverted it back to 30% off @ $27.10 doh.gif .
Now i'm using Singtel mobile broadband, 1.5mbps 50GB @ $10 per month with is part of my MIO home plan. It's pretty stable I would say, with speed hitting 100% as advertise most of the time & able to torrent rclxms.gif . Having said all that, my primary line is still my home 10mbps.

Sad, this is the problem, my landlord refuse to borrow me her fixed phone line for me to register home broadband, really ridiculous... sad.gif

So, i can only register for mobile broadband.

Since I like to play dota, watch PPS and stream EPL during weekends, so i want a mobile broadband plan that can perform all these tasks.

Still scratching my head of which telcos to go...

Cz personally thinks that at admiralty there the Singtel mobile broadband line very bad.
Mostly cant connect at all after work time (night) and weekend.
Thinking too many ppl using Singtel, so line very bad.
But it was around half a year back. Now not sure.

@jurlique mobile broadband a bit tricky also, my singtel 3G (using iphone), when inside my hdb unit the signal is almost useless, can hardly access internet at all (although i'm 5mins walk from bedok town centre).
