Cheapo people should work less since they don't need much income to survive.

They should enjoy life as it is regardless of money they have.

Church? Temple? Yes I will donate if they use it to help the needly but not to pay super high salary to its management.  I think some church and temple here are just too rich.

I don't dispute this at all. I do think Singapore is expensive. Farking expensive. Dwellings and cars are many times my annual salary.

Earn SGD, spend RM. Now... that's when the magic happens  SG is the only place you can do this very effectively.

When i first came to singapore, i rented with an older single lady, a divorcee mind you and i quickly found out why she became a divorcee and why she constantly blames her husband for her failed marriage. Plus she's the religious type.

So i too would suggest that the last option is to rent from a single older lady. Gay's i;ve found are very accommodating as a landlord. So long as you tell them your straight as an arrow.

When I was in college, I rented a room from an old lady and her spinster daughter. Suffice it to say, there was very little privacy and I rarely got to do what I wanted.

After that, I have never lived with a landlord/landlady ever again. If I had to work harder, take a night job at 7-11... whatever, I made sure I always rented my own place. Right now, I smell like foreign workers from the MRT, sprawled on my couch, surfing, watching TV, 3 fans on, not wearing any pants... and no one can stop me ;p

I'm in a 3 room HDB. No housemates.

Why don't you walk to work instead of taking transport or share your room with someone (or more)? You can save hundreds more.

Most landlords have this rule if they are also living in the house. Especially if their family is also staying there.

IMHO, it's understandable. If I were the landlord, I wouldn't want to have strangers (ie. non-tenants or best case, non-regular visitors) having a free run of my house, using my stuff, contaminating my fridge, washing machine, utensils etc. One week, it's this friend. Next week, it's that friend... for instance. And if something is broken or stolen/lost, who's going to blame whom?

I rented 3 rooms in one year when I was in college. 2 out of 3 were okay with me bringing back a gf and she stays over, but had to make sure she doesn't walk around in the middle of the night in her underwear or something (or nothing) etc. All were okay to have my parents stay a night or two if they visited. But none would let me bring back friends to hangout, definitely not overnight.

Singapore is practically a nation of home owners / (potential) landlords.
