QUOTE(chris_c28 @ Apr 9 2007, 01:14 PM) I doubt IBM will re-purchase their PC division from Lenovo. The most it could do now is introduce its own new line of notebooks, but I doubt they would want to re-enter the PC market since it is so congested and margins are extremely slim. Lenovo might have simply "forgotten" about the Malaysian market. I think for a country as big as Malaysia, they sell less Thinkpads than they do in Singapore and other developed nations, so they'd rather promote their own Y series. It's very unfortunate because Malaysian consumers don't appreciate why business notebooks are priced much higher than their consumer counterparts yet have lesser features (this applies to all brands). Which is very true! Go any Starbucks u rarely see any ThinkPad there Malaysia user prefer higher spec machine that come with cheaper price or simple better looking machine (esp Vaio's or Mac lappy) Hopefully IBM wont get back ThinkPad.. i still want to own more ThinkPad machine which i still can afford under Lenovo devision Cheers.

IBM is more associated to business. They have been maintaining the black similar figure over all the years, may be its the trade mark.Youngsters need something catchy like handphones today , colors and etc.
Trying to expand my 256 memory to my T42 by adding SODIMM 333PC2700, screen just went blank, still figuring what went wrong ...what a day

Yea.. Thinkpad is definitely great compared to others. I am a R52 user here. It serves me well, almost 2 years dy still don't have any problem. Hopefully it wil last for years as what I told my friends, this is gonna be my laptop for next few years. Even if it spoilt, the next lappy I am going to purchase is Thinkpad series as well.

Just if lucky might there is some retailer might still have dead stock in their hand....hehe.... This post has been edited by bobby3006: Apr 17 2007, 01:10 AM

It just won't happen because IBM isn't keen on the PC market anymore. The Z series is also being slowly phased out as Lenovo is expected to launch a new T61 soon. Not sure if guys notice, but the new Thinkpads are now shipping without the IBM tricolour logo anymore, making it a full Lenovo branded device.
