Hi, newbie here..

Was contemplating a earlier macbook but too much of a risk in terms of support as I'm very much into SQL Server for running my website database..

Then it was T60 but untill recently, I saw the X60 which make sense as the 1.57KG provides me the type of mobility that does not compromise on the specs. I need some advice on these 2 latest models;

T60 (1951CE6) @ $5,638
- T5500 @ 1.66
- 512 + 512 RAM
- 80 SATA HDD
- DVD-R Multi Burner
- FingerPrint Reader & BlueTooth
- 14.1" @ 2.5KG
- XP Pro
- 3 Years Limited Warranty

X60 (1706BQ2) @ $6,688
- T5600 @ 1.83
- 512 + 512 RAM
- 80 SATA HDD
- External DVD Multi Burner
- FingerPrint Reader & BlueTooth
- 12.1" @ 1.57KG
- XP Pro
- 3 Years Limited Warranty

The only reason I'm more inclined to the X60 is the weight coz I really use it for presentation to clients very often but on the other hand, the 12.1" screen is a bit too small. Can anyone help me with the assessment on its value or worth on these 2?

Or should I get the R60 (9455A53) currently @ $3,388? Price is not a significant, I am just looking at its 'worth' and 'value for money' in terms of optimum performance. Thanx..

mortgage, here's my personal opinion:

x60 - unless u r holding ur notebook side by side everyday for more than 2 hours, mostly this can be done if you are not with own transport, x60 will be ur choice; or 12" is usually too small for presentation to clients

t/r60, - just nice, difference between the price (RM2250) will give, (1) dvd burner, (2) fingerprint, (3) 2 extra years warranty, (4) 250g less weight, (5) magnesium alloy lcd lid, (6) win xp pro, so choose and evaluate urself which u need and not

as for my situation (undergraduate student) i'm choosing r60, where i seldom use dvd burner, and will nvr bother other features except warranty; however for the price RM2250, i can use this extra amount for a new ibm after 2 years, which i think it's a worth and value for $

Bro, if you always travel and dont mind to look at 12' screen for hours.. then i think u wont go wrong with X60.

Im kinda regrat after get this T60 (Not the spec or anything but the weight) Goin round trip from SG and Jb everyday really tiring.. Lappy alone 2.5kg + my stuff..

But T/R series u can upgrade the proc and ram while X series you cant upgrade the proc couse the proc are soldered on the board.

And i dont think your bos like to watch a 12' screen when u presenting your works to him sad.gif

really hard to decide bro..

Cheers.

X60 screen, although it's 12.1" but you should be able to view it quite comfortably as the max resolution for this laptop is 1024x768. This makes objects and words appear bigger. This is strictly a business laptop and not multimedia.

Thanx guys! I think it all boils down to the price I am willing to pay for mobility ofered in the X60. I travel very often, and I believe it really makes a difference. I will also consider the discounts that I can negotiate for both the T & X models before deciding.

Come to think of it, the R60 may not be a bad idea as I am mainy motivated by the huge price difference. I can rationalize and live with the specs but I need to get the XP pro copy in order to run SQL for business. And prolly with the savings, to get a macbook for my personal stuff. it still a cool thing to have esp with the new OS coming soon.

Thanx again..

Hello there.
I've got an IBM ThinkPad but I don't know what model is that. My casing has cracked at the back of the notebook and the hinges is loose. Opening the screen is kinda hard as it is already mis-aligned already. Anyone here knows where can I get a replacement casing for this.

Thanx in advance.

Cheers.

Guys, where to check warranty for Thinkpad T60 series? I am planning to buy a second hand Thinkpad and I was told the warranty for Thinkpad is to the machine itself. So if I bought it second hand without the original receipt, the warranty claim still valid?

I have information of this here
type = 2007
serial = L3DV031

how to check how much longer is the warranty still valid?

IC, thanks for the info. But I got a question here, how come to check warranty is at IBM website. Isn't Thinkpad already a LENOVO product and no more under IBM wing? Locally where to send thinkpad for service if it is still under warranty?
