no offence, why does ibm's lappy sells so well but the design is so dull?

i'm working in one of the Blue Chip's company and all of us uses ibm pc and lappy's.no doubt that the Thinkcenter and the X series is great, but the design of the lappy's totally sucks

Thinkpads are meant to be business notebooks. They were made to look formal, not flashy, and their all-black design has become something of a classic among businesses. The fundamental looks of Thinkpads have not changed since the first model in 1991: simple and clean, nothing superfluous to detract from the 100%-business look. That, and their ruggedness make them highly popular as company computers. (Well, let's not forget the slew of security and productivity features the more recent models come with tongue.gif)

Frankly, I love the design of my R51, which has 'stealth fighter' angles when its closed, making it look sleeker and thinner than it really is.

Thanks for the infomation.I was told that IBM lappy's are exceptionally heavy and for the given price,u definitely can get a better specs.Besides, IBM parts are really expensive and the price changes every end of the week. This is because its imported from US and its about the currency.Quoted price only lasts for 7 day,not 7 working days mind you. A Thinkpad's battery can go anywhere from Rm 800-900.Thats just a normal battery pad.

is there any model of ibm using, WXGA screen, max 14inch and below 3.5k?
i check the website, the only model with this spec is Lenovo 3000 N100. which is not a thinkpad series. Does Lenovo are same build quality as thinkpad?

I also bought it during pc fair for 2990 for R60-A18 with 512MB RAM, then upgrade to 1GB RAM and Windows XP Home for additional RM500.

The ThinkPad R60 is a pretty solid laptop, compare to T Series, it only lacks of alloy magnesium cover for LCD screen. with RM 3,500, I got

1. Intel Core Duo T2300E
2. 1GB RAM, DVD/CDRW combo
3. Intel PRO Wireless 3945ABG4
4. Alloy magnesium roll cage to protect your internal MB.
5. 14" LCD
6. 6 cells battery that able to last for min 5 hours
7. Hard disk active protection to prevent sudden drop causing data lost.
8. Trusted Platform Module (TPM) security chip to encrypt your files
9. Anti-spill water keyboard
10. Tons of very useful ThinkVantage tools help you increase your productivity.

Overall, this is the best laptop I've ever used, my previous laptops were HP compaq series, it was a terrible experience, problem such as overheat, short batter life (~ 1 hour), noisy fan, unable to wake up after switch to sleep mode.

Thinkpad has a very impressive battery power management, under normal use such as typing, surfing net, the battery easily last up to 5 hours, and it is not hot at all, only minor warm you would feel at the back. hard disk is also very quiet, I can't even notice it is running. typing the thinkpad keyboard is a pleasure, the best keyboard I've ever used, and not to mention the thinkvantage tools such as

1. access connections that let you manage multiple location profile so that you don't need to manual change your ip, gateway, netmask, dns when you move around different office.
2. Power management lets you configure your battery charging threshold that can prolong your battery life.
3. Easyeject lets you quick eject and USB devices within you three key strokes.
System update automatically notice you that the new driver or patch is available to you.
4. Rescue & Recovery automatically backup your data to your network folder or usb drives, and it can start and recover your system even your windows is totally crash and not able to boot up without using any recovery CD.
5. Presentation director lets you quickly switch your screen output to any external screen device without guessing which mode you are current in.

i love my thinkpad.
I think its the best notebook I've used so far.

Is lowyatt selling any T7200 2.0Ghz Core 2 Duo Processor. Maybe you could buy one and replace it with your existing ThinkPad, but make sure your chipset is 945GM or 945PM.
